March 31, 201214 yr The new United merger livery is quite beautiful and the Continental "globe" is very appropriate for their international operations. April 2, 201214 yr Nice pics, very cool shots, especially the first United one.But just so you know, the slogan 'if it ain't Boeing, I'm not going' was not actually a Boeing marketing campaign, nor was it originally aimed at Airbus either. Its genesis is as a saying which originated among Boeing plant workers in the 1970s, and they were referring to the large number of McDonnell Douglas DC-10 accidents which were occurring at that time, which is kind of ironic now that the DC-10's lineage is actually part of Boeing. The phrase has of course been picked up and used to relate to the Boeing versus Airbus rivalry, although that too is ever so slightly ironic, since Boeing did actually briefly market the 747 as the '747 Super Airbus', even painting the original 747 prototype up with the '747 Super Airbus' name on the side in huge letters (B747-100, MSN 20235) and flying a marketing tour with it in 1972, when it wore a different registration to it's more well known one. Photos of it in that guise are not common, but there is one in the Airliner Tech 747-100/200/300/SP book (Volume 6) if anyone is curious enough to want to see it, since you are unlikely to find a Boeing source for it these days!Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
