March 31, 201214 yr I invited my wife into my game, as she was starting a mission. So I had night time setting etc... and she continued on with her daytime scripted mission. Everything seems fine, except that I was able to see her A/C on the ground crashed in a grassy area during her mission. After her mission was complete, she appeared in my night time scenario. She was able to see me in my actual position but her position was wrong for me, for some her previous A/C position never reset on my screen. So now when I go to the 'home screen' and then back to the game, on my screen I get to watch her little Icon drop out of the sky and crash like nobody is in piloting it. Bounce and crash on the ground and slide to a stop. It only does that when going to the home screen and back. Otherwise it just sits there. Even if I map to a different location. The only thing I haven't done yet is exit my MP and restart it.
March 31, 201214 yr I know exactly what you're talking about. It happens to me as well. I am flying with my friend every night and we always go to the same airport, select a job with the same destination and take off. If everything goes well, we have no issues BUT if for some reason (mostly due to overweight or severe crosswinds) one of us crashes on take off and reloads, the other one sees his aircraft where it crashed. Now, sometimes it happens that after few minutes, position resets and everything goes back to normal but sometimes one of us can see the other one fine while the other one sees his friend's plane crashed next to the runway. It is really annoying.Another bug that happened to us more than few times is that when my internet connection crashes, and my friend is the host, i reconnect to him and continue flying the same job BUT my weather theme switches to "clear skies" and that is extremely annoying. So, i am basically flying next to him (few hundred feet away) and have clear skies and daytime, while he's flying at night and under stormy weather. I really hope they fix this asap.Cheers
March 31, 201214 yr These are primarily connection issues. When you crash, switch aircraft, or start/finish a job, your plane may stop updating for other players in the game. A quick reconnect is all you need to fix this. I haven't had too many glitches with multiplayer weather, but when you start a job or mission, you will keep the same time and weather you started with even if you switch lobbies or the host changes the conditions.Exploiting that little weather synchronization trick can make you appear to be a flying god[dess] to other players in a stormy lobby... :Just Kidding: Also, opening the Home menu greatly decreases the frequency with which it updates multiplayer positions, so aircraft flying near obstacles can often appear to crash, then snap up into the air again when the position updates again. The Home menu makes heavy use of your internet connection, so it probably limits the multiplayer connections to help the Home menu perform better.
March 31, 201214 yr Author I only used the home menu as a means of resetting her A/C position, since it's the only thing that had any effect on her A/C on my screen. (I couldn't imagine 'home' possibly using that much of my internet connection) Just used as a trial and error trying to figure out why she wasn't updating on my screen. Without pressing it, and waiting prolonged periods of time, her position never updated. On her screen, after her mission, she was now within my time and weather conditions, and parked beside me.A simple restart of Flight on her computer fixed everything.
March 31, 201214 yr (I couldn't imagine 'home' possibly using that much of my internet connection)On a good connection it probably doesn't use much, but it's still seems to be structured to accommodate slower connections. Every time you hit the home key, it has to query the LIVE servers for your friends and recent players lists, info on what they're all doing at that time, whether they're joinable or not, and it checks your messages. That can amount to a surprising amount of data, especially if you and your wife are playing on the same network, since even though you're playing with each other, that's still going through your internet connection. (Flight doesn't have any LAN multiplayer.)
