Joysticks and hatswitches and flight sims, oh my!

Featured Replies

Here's the deal- I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and I need some help. I always used the hat switch to look around in FSX and in Flight. However, in Flight, the pan rate is very slow and kinda stuttery (I hold the right mouse and move it and it's smooth) compared to FSX. This seemed to even get worse since the update yesterday. What Configs do I need to edit? Anyone else have this problem? I like to look around at a decent realistic speed, y'know?

I'll just confirm that I have the same issue. Slow, choppy panning with the hat switch, but nice and smooth when right clicking and using the mouse to change the view. If only I had 3 hands to operate throttle, stick and mouse :)

But honestly, my feeling is that since it's smooth with the mouse, it can probably (hopefully) be tweaked in a cfg file like you suggested.

Hmmm...not just me! Well I tried messing with some of the panning in the configs but to no avail.

Just to clarify, everyone on the beta forums have experience this, so no need to be worried. Hope MS releases an update soon to fix this problem.

Got it! Change the 32 in <Repeat>32.000000</Repeat> to 16 and it's equivilant to FSX!

While the pan rate slowed for me with the update, I can't say it appears choppy, seems to move pretty smooth. I thought it was too fast previously, something in between what it is now and what it was would be nice...

Good to know, thanks for the tip!

I also use the Logitech 3D and have the same choppy issue. Change to 16 proved to be better but was still getting that lagging feel until I tried 1.000000. This gives me the best result. Now it feels just as fluid as when using the mouse. BTW don't know if MS tweaked the performance on the update but on my rig the sim feels a lot smoother with less "hitching" when over dense bush or during sharp turns like I used to get.

I found that I can't "register" any second options in the Aircraft/Game Settings by way of my Sidewinder Joystick. It seems to remember the settings I had set up before the "Update", but does'nt "see" my Sidewinder.

My Logitech 3D pro is working so much better with the update, trim, rudder, pitch up and pitch down working beautifully, much better than before, and even better than FSX, except for the hat switch (very twitchy). I will try the changes to the controls file that are recommended.

I switched it to 1.000000 and it worked for me as well. Make sure that you are changing it under the correct controller as well. If you have rudder pedals or a 2nd joystick connected you might change it under that section if you aren't paying attention, in which case it will appear the change did nothing.

Sorry!! I found my mistake. Regisered my changes without further difficulty.
