April 6, 201214 yr Pretty much all my planes I have a favorite livery and it's all I fly. Â While the others are nice, they don't get used. Â I was thinking off getting rid of the rest and deleting those variants or config entries, plus the texture folders. Â Would it speed up performance? Â Does anyone else do this? Does it cause problems for AI? (I use FTX AI) Â Â Â Â
April 6, 201214 yr AFAIK, This would not speed up performance. What would affect your sim's performance would be the settings in the menu, and of course your system's specs. Thanks, Kevin L Â
April 6, 201214 yr It will speed up 'change aircraft' dialog box, nothing else. You can disable 'show all variations' to achieve pretty much the same result. Bartłomiej Ender
April 6, 201214 yr I do fly only one certain carrier's livery on all my planes most of the time. I switch to a local livery when flying off my favorite carrier's routes, but I start to feel like on cheating it. (^-^;; I want to feel like I'm flying as a pilot for an airline first. I like to think of it as airline swapping for the day. Â I don't delete any unused liveries. The only thing they are using is hard drive space, so I don't think you'd get a noticable gain in performance. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
August 21, 201510 yr I too have the same question, Likewise, I have a number of different liveries for the aircraft. With downloading either freeware or payware they usually come with a multitude of different liveries. As niyoko stated above all I am really interested in is livery that is appropriate to companies flown here in Australia, REX and Qantas for example. At the end of the day though in general I do not look at the aircraft from the outside view when in flight. Â FS Passengers also has issue with different liveries, for those that use it each aircraft or livery needs to be purchased within FS passengers. Â The minor issue is I guess that the need to scroll through so many aircraft and find the actual one can not only be time consuming but also confusing. There are many Liveries that are similar in appearance so loading one that you think is correct and starting FS Passengers then told you don't own that aircraft is annoying especially when as I said there are many that are so similar. Â Unfortunately also, un ticking the "show all variations" option hides the liveries that we are looking for. Â So again I ask if there is any way to ask FSX to only show one particular livery for each aircraft ?Â
August 21, 201510 yr Two ways of showing only one livery for each aircraft in FSX in the aircraft seletion window.  1. Alter the cfg file of every aircraft to stop them from showing. For each livery, there will be a header in brackets that reads "fltsim." and then a number. Just change the numbers to "xx" and the livery will no longer show, but be sure to enter numbers starting with "00" for the liveries you want to see.  2. Un-check the "Show All Variations" box in the menu, then edit the cfg files of the aircraft you fly, giving the "00" number to your desired livery. This will not work if you want more than one livery per aircraft to be displayed.  Benefits of doing either of the above? The aircraft menu window opens a little faster and it is easier to find your desired aircraft, but nothing more. Deleting undesired liveries frees disc space, but if your AI traffic uses those liveries, they will no longer be available.
