April 9, 201214 yr Your question is pertinent but there is a firm intent by Joshua Howard to prevent that from happening at all costs. Hi Mark, I think Flights simulation is as good as FSX for the deluxe planes on offer coving the flight model and cockpit interactions. Only one plane I think which could have an autopilot and doesn't have that feature. That;s really whats missing some 'features' and Joshua and Microsoft haven't ruled out adding such new features in the future. From what I can see Flight had an update as soon as I installed it several weeks ago, this week another update has been included which has addressed some stability issues. We know Microsoft are looking at the possibility of adding new features to the product either through DLC or product updates and I would be supprised of an update wasn't required to support the Alaska scenery. I.e. the product is evolving and I think over time it could be more of the product we all want. Just my 2cent. On the original question. No I think for the initial release of the DLC you'll have to choose between two maps. But physically it should be possible when the right planes come out. I would be very suprised of the loading of resources was significantly different to FSX (in as far as local terrain and conditions are loaded dynamically) and therefore would accomodate flying to Alaska in one hop if a plane came along which allowed you to do this. Cheers, Dave.

I am speaking about what we have now, both the game and the interview.
April 9, 201214 yr I think all remaining questions and curiosity about Flight's future will be answered with the release of Alaska and any additional planes that ship with it. Jason BocheDelta Virtual Airlines Assistant Chief Pilot, B767-300
April 10, 201214 yr I think all remaining questions and curiosity about Flight's future will be answered with the release of Alaska and any additional planes that ship with it. I noticed you used the plural instead of the singular form when speaking about planes. I am quite lucky on betting and my bet goes for Alaska DLC with one plane only and that plane has been built in 1948, her first edition I mean.
April 10, 201214 yr The news article on Xbox mentions "planes" plural, and I like older planes a lot. The one I'm hoping for is from 1937. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Hook I respect your opinion and your wishes and I am sincerely glad you are enjoying Flight and the old planes but, why preventing others to have fun with few jets and some wider areas with at least half a dozen of big European and American airports to start from ?

Silly question! Market research has shown that no one, children, casual gamers, aviation enthusiasts,etc. have ever dreamt of flying an f-14 or a 747. It's simply too complicated except for hard core simmers and Tom Cruise. Instead, 99% of folks dream of becoming a biplane pilot. It's market research!
April 10, 201214 yr Flight contains one plane that's so new that it isn't even in production yet. It contains two modern planes that are still being built and sold (or sold and built in the case of the RV). It contains a biplane that was used as a trainer for WW2 pilots, and it's a lot of fun to fly. There are two Basic planes from WW2. From the Deluxe planes, there is only one that is older. I counted a few big American airports in Flight already. Alaska will provide a few more. Austria would be a good choice for a new area, and that would provide a few European airports. The only thing left is jets, and that doesn't fit the General Aviation theme of Flight at this time. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have been in Austria many times ...what a wonderful country full of great people indeed ! Yeah, that for example would be a classy DLC, I agree.
April 10, 201214 yr I've been to Austra several times when I was stationed in Germany. It's absolutely gorgeous and you're right about the people. Austria is also a natural for a soaring package, and I can't wait. I see pics of sailplanes around Austra and I get homesick... I do miss Bavaria and Austria. Innsbruck has an interesting approach... but wait until you try Dutch Harbor in Alaska. If anything ever makes me wish for an autopilot slaved to a fully functional GPS, it'll be that airport. April 10, 201214 yr I am going to have to agree that there should not be 747 brought into this game. There are enough problems with the users flying the slow planes that a sky full of huge airliners seems like trouble. If any jet aircraft are brought in to the game there should be: Learjet F-16 737 CRJ SR-71 Anything more than that and this game will be almost unplayable due to the massive aircraft all over the sky and airfields. April 10, 201214 yr The Aurora I'm finishing for FSX would make for a short hop to Alaska from Hawaii:
April 10, 201214 yr Going back to the original topic, I think the different areas will all be displayed in one map. The reason I say this is because on the loading screen it once said something like "The map can be used to change your aircraft's location or to look for new scenery areas to purchase". Jehan Kateli
April 10, 201214 yr All they have to do is add another opening screen with a big map of the Pacific Ocean, where you either click Alaska or Hawaii to move to the map screen we're used to (currently just Hawaii). Add a "Switch Region" button to that screen and you can easily navigate to the various Flight regions when you get tired of the current one. The opening screen might simply be text, something like: Select desired region: Alaska Hawaii Mars
