Pretty amazing video. I love those guys.

Man how I wish I could fly a fifth of the planes they've enjoyed flying.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Interesting video... Come to think of it, I have kind of forgotten about the upcoming DC-6 until you reminded me with this! ^_^

Great stuff. The comment that it is completely different than the 6 (presumably the DC-6) was interesting, as was the comment about the Flight Engineer. It will be interesting to fly a PMDG sim without a flight engineer.

How different are the dash 6 and 7? I noticed JustPlanes have a DVD using this same aircraft I believe and I was thinking of purchasing it to learn some more about the systems as the PMDG DC-6 nears release.

Sry, it seems as if you have mixed together 4 aircraft :LMAO:

PMDG is modeling the DC-6 http://en.wikipedia....ki/Douglas_DC-6 and the aircraft similar to that one is the DC-7 http://en.wikipedia....ki/Douglas_DC-7 (not 100% sure)

The Dash 6 is actually the Twin Otter http://en.wikipedia....HC-6_Twin_Otter and the Dash 7 is this one http://en.wikipedia....d_Canada_Dash_7 which have nothing to do with DC (Douglas Corporation).

Hope this clears your mind

Regards

Manfred

EDIT: The Dash 7 is quite similar to the Dash 8 that PMDG wanted to develop, but have delayed indefinitely.

Ships are cooler that you think.

Seems you have been confused with how I phrased the question. I meant dash 6 as in DC-6 or dash 7 as in DC-7 not the Twin Otter. For example if we were talking about the 737 I could say the dash 9 is my favourite meaning the -(dash) 900.

Other than size? The -7 is bigger.

Do they both have engineers? I thought the -6 was a two pilot aircraft until I saw an ad for a dc-6 flight engineer position.

It depends on how the cockpit has been modified. Like the 727 used to require 3 and now most have been reconfigured for 2 pilots. An aircraft with a required flight engineer station now adays is like a finacial ball and chain tied around the tail.

I for one am looking more foreward to the DC6 than anything right now.

woops, and I thought that I could contribute with something smart :P Sorry about that, I should have figured it out by myself that my interpretation was too wrong, especially with your DC (dash) 9 avatar ^_^

It's probably a stupid way to write things a lil bit confusing. Anyway anybody know the differences other than size between the DC-6 and the DC-7? ^_^
