PMDG 737-600/700NGX Service-based failures.

Featured Replies

I recently discovered the Service-based failures in this 600/700NGX package and think it sounds quite nice, and adds a bit more realism, and immersion. My question however is aside from seeing how many hours until a system needs serviced, how can you tell if any of the systems have been damaged, or destroyed? Is there any way to find such a thing in the FMC or can you only get hours until next service information out of it? For example, Lets say something is wrong with the APU. Will they FMC let you know that anywhere in the repairs or service pages?

Simple, if something stops working correctly, stops working altogether, or you get warning lights, then you know something has been either damaged or needs servicing. All kidding aside, I have so many hours on my NGX that I am starting to come up at about the time some items need service. Just the other day I got some warning lights that I couldn't extinguish during a flight after reading thru the QRG trying to figure them out. Once I landed I opened the service part of the FMC to find out that I had a couple of items that had passed their service hours. Once I did the service I was back in action.

To be honest, after not owning any a/c that actually kept track of that sort of thing, it added an element that I liked and I now know to keep an eye on the service items to see how long I have to go before they need servicing again. It's not a bad idea to go thru the 3 pages of items and look at the next service hours before you begin a new flight and get out over the middle of now where only to have something go wrong.
