April 19, 201214 yr Making a client for a network is just as big a job if not bigger than making an addon like the NGX. Patience mate. Plus they volunteer to do it, probably make no $$$
April 19, 201214 yr Making a client for a network is just as big a job if not bigger than making an addon like the NGX. :LMAO:. Yeah, I just laughed my &@($* off. I'm not a programmer, but either you don't know what's behind an addon like the NGX, or you're aware of comparing apples and oranges and are just being ignorant of it. Not that I don't respect what they are doing, for free. I am the last who's gonna be requesting something. Probably the most patient person, when it comes to addons.
April 19, 201214 yr ... I also find IVAO (this is subjective) a teeny bit more friendly and patient to newer or less experienced pilots, than VATSIM. You say that like its a good thing to tolerate pilots that havent done the proper "preflight" Johan Pettersen
April 19, 201214 yr I tried Vatsim and the folks there are great. They certainly put up with my newbness. I do have to admin though that I did get frustrated with the outdated software. Hopefully somebody comes up with a unified client that is intuitive and easy to use. Vatsim would increase their user footprint by quite a bit if they could overcome the software deficit. Scott KGPI
April 19, 201214 yr Nope. I say it like it's a good thing to remember when you were new and appreciated a kind, patient voice to help you along ........ that's all Nothing to do with pre-flight. And VATSIM has many friendly ATCOs. I'm just giving a view that the IVAO controllers can in my experience be a little warmer to less-experienced pilots. I spent 10+ hours sitting on the ground listening to radio chatter before I connected. I also read all the documentation multiple times. I expect other pilots to have the same amount of knowledge when they connect for the first time. Being totally oblivious to basic aviation rules and regulation is not OK in any way shape or form when you connect to an online network. Johan Pettersen
April 19, 201214 yr I think that Ivao and Vatsim are really different on terms of experience, in IVAO is more Hardcore instead of Vatsim, that is more easy. If you Fire SB4 in external way and not by addon menu no problem at all with FSX. What I don't like, most of the time, is the quality of the audio that come from ATC which the majority of time is 3-5 and sometime is worse.
April 19, 201214 yr I think that Ivao and Vatsim are really different on terms of experience, in IVAO is more Hardcore instead of Vatsim, that is more easy. what makes you say that? Because ive heard the opposite? Anybody else have an opinion on this? lee
April 19, 201214 yr I tried Vatsim and the folks there are great. I have to agree to this wholeheartedly. Controllers on VATSIM, maybe USA portion with a small exception (I had some mixed experiences there), but in Europe, they are as friendly as they come. One thing though - and I do respect them for that - don't start noobing in the busy spaces like Heathrow when Flyins, cuz when they are busy and you start noobing, you are gonna get yelled it. A noob shouldn't be learning in the busiest of spaces. Get your procedures at some smaller airports and at relaxed times.
April 19, 201214 yr I got that setup to work with FSInn if you have any interest in switching clients. My headset plugs into the FSX computer so I can use FS2Crew Voice, and FSInn runs on a separate laptop, and I can speak to and hear through my headset. April 19, 201214 yr what makes you say that? Because ive heard the opposite? Anybody else have an opinion on this? lee Long time ago when i started in IVAO some ATC advice me to review method of flying and other aspect to be more realistic like you can't descent at 1800 but at list 2500 Ft/min . In IVAO there is a RANK, It's not Mandatory but it gives you a meter of what kind of organization it is. Then I tested VATSIM wihch was more user friendly and ATC are not such demanding as long you respect rule and behave. I still fly in Vatsim but I always want to switch I still have my ID in IVAO
April 19, 201214 yr What was it called before they had their little disagreement which led to the formation of both Vatsim/IVAO? It used to be one big online organization, can't seem to find any info on it. To bad they would not merge, IVAO covers Europe very well and Vatsim North America, seems kinda ridiculous that the two biggest online organization's who offer a FREE service can't make it work together, their general goal is basically the same.
April 19, 201214 yr SATCO. I dont think there are any efforts to cooperate, there's no willingness to do that. How would you organize such a merger anyways, when you got two sets of staff for every FIR / ARTCC. Seems like a huge obstacle to overcome Johan Pettersen
April 19, 201214 yr It would probably the best thing in online flying if they found a way. The community split in two, especially one like ours, is never really good. But as Johan said it, I don't see the way.
