New to FSX, NGX & AVSIM but... here goes!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

As stated above I am pretty new to all this so please bear with me if you could.

First of, when I installed NGX, there was a recommendation that I got my FSX.cfg file optimised for my system which I did. Problem I have now got is that this new file conflicts with some of the "settings" recommendations for NGX - Which ones to use?

Second off & I know it has been covered in other posts but I am yet to find a difinative answer, I keep getting a FSX app crash when exiting an NGX flight. I think it is known on the board as a CTD error or similar? You know the sort of thing which ends up with a red warning hexagon after FSX re loads. Anyhow I just wondered what the up to date skinny is on all that & if there is a fix.

Many thanks

Not sure what "conflicts" you're refferring to? Go wtih Heysus' on venetubo http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html and you'll be all set. There are 1 bio. different opinions on different tweaks, but I think it's fair to say that Heysus' tweaks are broadly accepted as the safe and working ones. Also be sure to run Nividia Inspector and follow his guide:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/

Regarding the CTD I've never experienced it myself - but close. My FSX always crashed when I close it down - regardless of what aircraft I've been flying. It really poses no problems for me, so I've haven't bothered looking further into it. But if you've narowed the problem down to being the NGX, I would go for a clean reinstall at first.

Many thanks

The main issue with FSX crashing on exit is that any changes you have made to the config or settings while in flight (controls etc) will not be written to the config files. FSX writes/confirms it's cfg files when you close it afaik

What is the CTD, Pup? Also, sign your name to your sigs

Thank you both for your help.

Jake I will try & get what it is exactly that FSX comes up with when I try to shut the sim down after an NGX flight, b ut it is along the libes of something or the other not being installed. When the app the starts up again, there is a big re "Warning" hexagon telling me to reboot the computer before continuing. As I say I will try & get the exact error message for you.

Thank you once again

I'm not on my FSX rig now, but the crash can be due to the uiautomationcore.dll. You need a copy of this dll placed in the root folder of your FSX install, and you won't receive any more crashes. A quick search on google or around these forums should come up with this dll you need.
