April 21, 201214 yr Author You bet...you're very welcome! Glad that you are enjoying it! One more link for you: http://www.fs-shipya...p?ind=downloads There are many categories of watercraft to choose from, and Hama has several other models there too. My wife & I will meet you at the dock...drinks are on us lol. Blue skies, Rusty -------------------------------------------------------------- Rusty....WHAT A BLAST! I actually feel the same emotionally, when I am on vacation!!!!! What a totally different usage of Orbx and FSX in general. This boat has some serious physics behind it. You can do power skids...and actually get into a bit of trouble... So...now..I can land in Orbx Nirvana...and 'BOB' to the boat landing....and packing my gear...that gal in the back sunbathing and opening her eyes, with a smile means we're all set to go out for the day. Later, we come back, stow the boat, head on up to the plane...and fly back to another work week....LOL. Yeah....living Life large through my usage of FSX, air and marine...... I'll come back and check out the other link as soon as 'we' get back....LOL (wink and a nudge...) My wife & I will meet you at the dock...drinks are on us lol.---- You got it! Seconds on our tab..... Post Edit: A most amazing find.....there is tremendous sense of speed upon the water (as this boat can push 60 mph!) But also, there is absolutely no lag, jerk, stutter of the scenery, no matter how complex as you speed by--at water level. You can pan around, up, down, left, right...and absolutely no lag, stutter, or jerk. The sunlight glistening on the waves, the reflections of the land and its features, at full water effects is quite amazing to see, as it is after all virtually done. The wake the boat leaves at full throttle, actually has a 3-dimensional trough if you glance back upon it. Also, the white water displaced by the twin props shorten, or elongate (as in real life) with varying throttle usage. You can also note, that (as in real life boating...) tighter turns are only accomplished with moderate to slow thrust. I guess I sort of did a mini-review...but the final note is that with this download, you can have a very capable marine environment simulator alongside your flight simulation. If you want to really appreciate the field-of-depth of FSX....see Orbx's mountains from the water....and experience the grand reach of them. One word....'wow'.
April 21, 201214 yr I know.. What I meant by big was "relative to all the airports they make, the bigger ones are preferable.." Paved runway to grass strips. that sort of thing. Two runways over 1 runway...etc Longer runway over shorter runways.. LOL :) 3W5, 1S2, and KBVS. Check all of them here: http://fullterrain.com/ MSFS
April 21, 201214 yr "Well, with 77 views and nobody 'signing' onto the idea...I guess then that I'm the only one to wish to have an immersive, water-elevation experience. I guess that I will have to wait until somebody in freeware, whatever, produces what I had in mind.... Oh well..... I think that like me, many subscribe to the forum and like to check out some offerings, but don't necessarily care to jump into the conversation but just like to keep up to the comings and goings on. April 21, 201214 yr 3W5, 1S2, and KBVS. Check all of them here: http://fullterrain.com/ Thank you Jose. That's kind of the airports I was looking for. Once I sat and went through each Orbx airport and listed them in a note pad and then I forgot to save my list. Thanks for that, I am now going to get those three. I wish all of those airports within NWP were grouped and sold as a package... like Flight scenery used to, would have been awesome ! Oh well! Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

April 21, 201214 yr I wish all of those airports within NWP were grouped and sold as a package... like Flight scenery used to, would have been awesome ! Oh well! Manny I made that suggestion to Orbx staff about two years ago! They will eventually see the wisdom, most likely sometime after this April sale AND when they offer up porting them over the P3D. Also perhaps some are quite dated (ie have been on the market some time), they can package the older ones up into a bundle, like PNW Airports Bundle #1. April 21, 201214 yr Hi, Although not kayaks, and although not designed for quiet paddling around and about, the following are sources of some nice watercraft for the FSX environment. The Aquarama is a classy runabout. Take a peek and have fun! http://www.deltasimstudio.com/ http://simviation.co...zip)= http://www.simviation.com/fsxmisc4.htm Hey thanks for the links Rusty. I had been looking for some boats in the past but never found them. Guess I didn't look hard enuf. The PT boat looks really cool but I don't feel any need to spend part my minuscule paycheck on it. Anyway, Mitch, why not contact Detlasim and see if they'll do a paddly thing for you? I was going to be a smart-alec about this but really, I think it's neat that you would do such a thing, I don't know of any environmental sims out there and using FSX in that fashion is truly a good idea. I don't own ORBX scenery or I would possibly feel like you do about it. I can't afford it either.

I don't own ORBX scenery or I would possibly feel like you do about it. I can't afford it either. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Dolph, That could be a good idea, and thanks for the thought! Dolph, I have to tell ya....what really made FSX come alive, and I use the world 'alive' as a state-of-mind has been the FSX of today. I've been flight simming since the start, around the mid 1970's and had every manufacturer's hardware offerings running the latest of that day's flight sim, as a lot of others here have had, who are in my age group. The big one to really coalesce flight simming for myself personally was of course, FS98. Back then, we were thrilled to try to get 10-12 FPS out of flying over blotches of green, blue, and brown, with (literally) triangles 'glued' to the 'terrain' for mountains. There was nothing to really convince the mind that this was only anything over and above a simplistic 'world' that your brain had better work overtime to make believe, or suspend disbelief, that you were 'flying' over Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore, etc.... Your love of the hobby and your imagination had to be in top notch form to make that leap-of-faith! (smile!). So...on and on we all went from one iteration to the other....FS2000, FS2002,FS2004 (FS9) and on...until today. Today with the likes of Orbx production running within FSX for myself, there is no 'working' of the mind, of the imagination to make me emotionally feel, and emotionally involved, that I am TRULY taking off from any of the custom Orbx landforms, or airports/airfields in a real-life moment. There is no work. I am there...I am at taxi..and then I am taking off. The terrain looks virtually real. The trees, the fields, the infrastructure, the topography--rivers, basins, mountain ranges, valleys, lakes, oceans inlets, bays...what have you, are so close to being real...that the mind relaxes on the flying or whatever activity you are doing, and THAT is the trigger....THAT is where you settle in and enjoy the flight, or in my case today, you take the fabulous 'Clarisse' out for a 60 mph full- rumbling throttle across the water... I want it all. Why should I not? FSX simulates water so well at the high settings, why not (if in real life, and I do powerboat) land that plane as I hope to one day do in real life...why not remove that virtual canoe with the help of your passenger, off of the pontoons, out of Cushman Lake for instance, and portage it down to the beautifully rendered dock areas of any Orbx product that features them. Take that real-world event (a paddle down the coastline of some spectacular lakefront) and enjoy that real weather your 'X' weather program is depicting. Relax....enjoy a paddle around, or with the Clarrise I downloaded today....cruise or power around and fully get to know your scenery that you paid for. Fully get to know each bay and inlet, each river mouth, or cruise up that river....for again, you paid for it. The Orbx crew painstakingly created this detail for you. Why only blast past it at 100 knots and 1,500 to whatever over it? Dolph, you would not believe how incredible this scenery in detail, is...until you are at eye-level to it....seeing it as I did today as a tourist from the water....being able to enjoy what exactly, the features are, aboard that yacht, you just meandered by! I also took Clarisse (I would settle down to a dock with my amphib, and then swap out for the Clarrise) to the Caribbean today. What a BLAST to see FSX's Carib as any tourist fortunate enough to have a boat available to them would enjoy. This particular boat, has all the proper physics in play...had all the proper animation and sounds you would expect at any control action or throttle setting, so...again...making the leap of faith that you are on vacation, and enjoying the exotic locals within FSX...that more involved!!! I am having a blast...... So, what has boating to do with flight simming? Everything. What has water to do with flight simming? Everything. Why? You fly over it in actual life. There is plenty upon this planet where ever you go....and who is to tell me...that I can NOT land my virtual plane....walk with my guest down to the docks at Cushman for example,...and then releasing the tie lines.....idle out of the slip...and enjoy the very custom Orbx lake that I just flew over, and marvelled at upon the approach? This post, probably is the best representation of my sense and love of this hobby, that I have ever put through the keyboard. What did roaming about the coastlines of New Zealand and coming out of and by the headland of Milford Sound/Harbor cause me to have today? I'll answer....it invoked an emotional response. That incredible feeling of relaxation and satisfaction in doing something of worth. Dolph....today...Saturday....I was ON VACATION! :))))))))))))))))) I was as relaxed (shoulders by my toes...) in this boat, with all the proper cues...the rumble of the powerful inboard, the sounds of the water slapping against the bottom of the hull (brought to me by ACCU-FEEL), the animation in my control inputs....as I would be if in my own boat. So...to close off this post, FSX with picking up what I could of the Orbx sale, with the picking up of this FREE boat today, and being flown into wonderfully depicted marine-associated destinations.....I am at the pinnacle of this hobby. This place-holder for the real world of aviation...and now marine-ation, lol. Have fun...be as immersive in your life as you will allow....and never, never allow the years to sour you! For some, they do. Now....back to firing up FSX, flying out of Portland....to land at Cushman (KCMW)....and walk down to my boat for a sunset cruise, served with wine, while enjoying a few choices of cheese with my wife. We're anchored near a sand-bar. Life Dolph is good, in the real world, as well as within the world of FSX! Mitch Moment
April 21, 201214 yr Author Just to emphasise that there is a lot of detail that I bet nobody has seen...... Who can tell me what is floating beyond the bridge at the end of Cushman Meadows Lake,...what is in the water? Unless you have taken a boat there, and have gone under the bridge (turn off CRASH and DAMAGE), you will not be able to...LOLOLOL! What a hoot...there is so much detail hidden within Orbx scenery. You would not have seen this from the seat of an airplane...I can tell you THAT! LOL For the curious...load a boat...take a sunset cruise out of Cushman Meadows marina...and generally head on a course of 300 degrees. You'll eventually see the concrete roadway bridge. Go under that into the little end-bay of the lake...but take care! There are bogies (as in truthfully real life) in that bay....don't sink your boat. Bill....a wonderful 'Easter egg' for the scenery. Thank you! So real.......and what you would possibly find. Post Edit: To make 'scenarios' much easier for the marine aspect, if you wish to 'climb aboard'...is: Use an amphib to place/locate yourself at any marina or dock within your scenery. Then go to your Legacy section of your airplanes and bring up and choose the 'Clarisse'. Then switch out. Make a save of that situation and label it 'Clarisse Marine-Cushman Meadows' for this instance. Do this for every lake, inlet, river, etc, you wish to have a boat waiting for you after landing. Unless you are doing a touch and go, what is there to do after taxi to parking? Sit there like a lump, or shut down FSX? Nope....get outta the plane...walk to the marina....and head on out for the day upon the lake. That's what you'd most likely do in real life. Unless...you like $100.00 or more hamburgers all the time....ROTFLMBO! Get out, stretch your legs, and get some good fresh air into those lungs.... Fly back later..... Cheers, Mitch
April 21, 201214 yr Down in the Flight Sim Video Forum, there's an excellent video entitled 'A Day at Moorabbin Airport' that doesn't show kayaks but it surely is different! Best regards, Jim

April 22, 201214 yr Author Mitch are you talking about the deadhead logs in the water? Mitch are you talking about the deadhead logs in the water? -------------------------------------------------------------- You bet! I owe you a beer back at the clubhouse.... I had a full day of FSX..and never took off....lol....just kept loading all the areas that I now want to have a boat, and then explored the scenery. I guess as another poster offered the term, ...FSX is now a 'full environmental simulator' for myself, and no longer merely one aspect, that being flight. :) It keeps getting better and better, the more you can see getting out of it. Ketchikan PAKT is a totally different feel when cruising the channel past the town and waterfront. I felt that I was not overlooking the area...but was actually PART of it, a resident of sorts. A totally different sense of satisfaction that had previously been enjoyed with Orbx's PAKT. You fly to where you want to be...and then have a reason to be there, and something now to do after parking..... P.S. PAKT's waterfront from the Clarisse at dawn....heading out from past the cruise ships, and then out around the headlands from the channel....was simply amazing. It was like being there. Mitch
April 22, 201214 yr Since you wanted 4 or 5, I'm going to recommend KORS as a bonus airport. It's an amazing little destination you will enjoy for along time. Cheers! Hi Jose, I bought the Orcas as well as the Diamond Point (in addition to 3W5, 1S2, and KBVS). . That makes it 5 airports from Orbx. I also noticed that they have some freeones that I need to download and install. I flew from KBVS to 1S2. They are awesome. Love it. I flew the Real Duke Air turbine. Found it hard to land...had to do two goarounds. Landed safely on my third try, which is exactly what I need. IMO, there is only one place where I think they can still improve. which is runway texture. They (at least on the 1S2) seem like a slab of generic texture to some extent. Only Flight scenery and Fly Tampa have been very good at this. Runway textures are so important for me that I notice this more than anything else in an add on airport. Coming in to approach, your eyes are so fixed on the runway, that this takes on significance. Anything less than perfect in this object, it is magnified. Apart from that, the grass, and the entire environment etc are spectacular. I even like the weather themes they have included. Overall I am happy. Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 22, 201214 yr Manny, If you have any $$ left I would also recommend taking a look at S43 - Harvey Field, 74S-Anacortes, and OS9-Jefferson City. The only problem with 74S and S43 is they may be a little tough on frames, at least on my system. I agree with Jose that his suggestions were some of the first ones I purchased during the sale. I really have to thank Mitch "moment" for all his descriptive reports on his recent Orbex purchases these last several weeks. I thought no one would spend that kind of money on so many small airports but heck, I went out and bought almost all of them during the ongoing sale. Woe is me for spending so much $$ especially if my wife finds out. The bad news is the sale is still going on so it will give me more time to review the videos once agian to see if I should indulge one more time.
