Orbx...how 'bout a 'new direction' release for your fab scenery?

Hi Jose,

I guess I need to spend more time at each one. I enjoy KORS as well. I like to jump into my new BMW and travel around each airport and surrounding areas and to get to know town folks a little better. Then I will use BOB to do a little walking. They are all good, it is just finding the time to enjoy. I guess the next step is finding me a canoe or boat to enjoy the water areas.

Regards,

Carl

Here's the boat, The 'Clarisse'.....and it's beautiful to operate!:

Hey Mitch,

Are you trying to get me in trouble. Which was beautiful the boat or the person in the back of the boat taking a sun bath?

Thanks

Carl

Maybe you've had better luck with it than I. I downloaded it to drive around the Venice X package, but the turn radius is so large I can barely navigate the grand canal.

Both...LOL. I just came back for a moment...to say that part of the fun in running the rivers with this boat, is that you might think you are coming up to the 'end' of the river but no....you have to properly decide which 'channel' is the dead end...and the one that once again, opens up to open water. I have been running for MILES along the river that I entered near Tyslos Lodge. It's incredible fun...and most immersive. You have to use skill at the controls...and think way ahead of the scenery...or that scenery, will get you in trouble. Just another fun 'side-line' of enjoying everything FSX has to offer...outside the conservative 'box'....:)

Cheers, and don't get into trouble....don't look back at the smiling eye-opening lady.....keep your eyes ahead for the deadheads.....LOL. Enjoy.

Like a real boat, you need to go slow into your turns, for a small radius. You also need to turn twist your joystick left or right for the rudder, and if you are screaming it down the water...you need to also use 'bank' left or right as you use rudder. Very real.... Try a larger river or open body of water to start, until you get the feel of 'er. That's what I did, and not looking back....:)

Hey Mitch I decided to load up that boat. It keeps crashing my fsx.

Is there some trick to installing this "plane" I don't know about that is different from any other.

I dropped it into SimObjects>Airplanes even tried >Boats. I get the thumbnail but when I select it if runs and runs my computer and finally fsx crashes. What's with that??

What would be good is do Land on the water, have a submarine waiting for you (James Bond) and then hit the high seas. Of course you would need P3D for that.

OK I have it working now, thanks. Gauges issue.

Did a short trip, its different, but using the sim for other things is kinda interesting.

look at S43 - Harvey Field, 74S-Anacortes, and OS9-Jefferson City. The only problem with 74S and S43 is they may be a little tough on frames, at least on my system. I agree with Jose that his suggestions were some of the first ones I purchased during the sale.

OK.. Got the Harvey Field, Anacortes and Jefferson City as well.

But I am not going to download it for now. Until I build my new PC. I have a pathetic PC. It wouldn't even run on mine I am sure!

Thanks guys.

I only wish Flight scenery KPDX area would be done for FSX. And Fly Tamps's KSEA too. I kind of got them both working in FSX. But its heavy on frames as well.

Manny,

Not sure how bad your computer is but mine is a I7-860, 2.8ghz, ATI-5770 vid, and 8gb ram. It is not what you would call a high end. I do get satisfactory frames (at least for me) of 12-30 fps with settings recommended by Orbx. So I still have a lot of enjoyment from all of the Orbx sceneries.

Hope this helps,

Carl

Yepper...that was really my intent in having some fun with the River Race post gag. There really is so much detail within the Orbx scenery, that it's a shame one can't appreciate in different ways other than what the 'main' use was...to be flown over. In taking that river yesterday afternoon...I must have gone at least 10-15 miles...and went through lowlands, low hills, grotto's, a low canyon...and even came around a bend and there was a road with A.I. cars, trucks, etc.

If you have NZS ....place the Clarisse at the Orbx dock, inside Milford Sound. Then heading out for the mouth of the sound, have fun. The sheer mountains and cliffs...are amazing with FSX fully cooking. Head for the huge yacht near the shoreline and check out the detail of it, and on it. Then...head out around the headland into the open sea..and steer for another airfield, which will have a full Lodge to see what's up at...and to enjoy the animations thereof. Going down the coast of the New Zealand scenery is just choice! You really feel you are there.....especially at the controls of Clarisse.
