Overclocking the gigabyte z68a-d3-b3 for fsx

Featured Replies

I have the z68a-d3-b3 motherboard and a program called the gigabyte tuner to overclock to 4.53ghz. However i see most guys tuning at 4.8 and would love to bump it up to 4.8. In the bios settings for my motherboard there isnt the ability to lock the vcore so i am kind of confused on what the next step should be. I have found the links posted by Word Not Allowed reguarding overclocking but those sites use a motherboard a bit different than mine with some different settings. So if anyone has any ideas that would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!!

Regards,

Aaron

Generally overclocking via Windows is not recommended.

You want to go into BIOS to make the changes... and BIOS changes will allow you to OC higher (and the possibility to screw things up hehe - but not to worry, most mobo's have a reset cmos switch.. if not worst case you take out the battery)

Anyway, good OC guides that I've used for my P67 board (not a lot of difference from your Z68):

I presume you're running an aftermarket cooler? You'll want one if you want to go any higher...

Hey there Ryan,

I found those guides useful, however I still am unable to find how to lock the voltage on my z68 motherboard... As listed on your second site there I have a steady 4.3ghz only by changing the multiplier.

Any thoughts?

Hey man you've got two threads just FYI hehe...the forums got an issue, so next time you post just wait and then navigate off the page - it will post once.

Anyway, I think someone answered in the other post but go into BIOS, and find the M.I.T page, then click on advanced voltages settings... CPU vcore is what you change

I know, and I have endlessly tried to figure out how to delete one of them! Word Not Allowed said it was a forum issue...I have noticed more posts with 2 threads happening on a multiple of users. Any ideas how to delete?

I have been adjusting vcore as well. I saw that post! This bios is tricky...sometimes things save sometimes they don't i am going to just add to that vcore little by little and see if i can get a stable 4.8...

Aaron
