April 24, 201214 yr Your Pc will be fine, dont sweat it. The i5 2550k Sandybridge is considered to be better than the i7's that came out atthe same time. I have an i5 PC and run the 737 with no issues. My addons in clude GenX Uk photo scenery UK2000 vfr airfields and a whole bunch of extreme airports. Aivlasofts EFB, REX. I fly all my flights online with VATSIM. my pc is locked at 30fps (the unlimited setting doesn't work) and have 30fps where ever I go. Those who claim to hit 40 to 100fps are just wasting resources by setting there fps to those settings. FSX is optimised to provide smooth flight at 15fps, Don't believe me try it. Wycliffe
April 24, 201214 yr LB your rig is fine and similar to mine Around$1500 home built gets you a top system dedicated to FSX. After stuffing around for months on low settings it was like the weight of the pc world was lifted from my shoulders when I plugged the new rig in. There was still tweaking to and I did everything mentioned on these forums one of the best is set Fsx to unlimted but tune your vid card for 30max. The way to look at it is , how passionate are you / us about flying? over 5 years its only $300 a year, a dollar a day I say buy the new rig peoples even on credit and take control of the skies ! ZORAN
April 24, 201214 yr geees, and I used to think my rig was "ok" but the Op's rig is borderline better then mine. lol For what it is worth, PMDG 737 is sweet on my rig; all of the PMDG stuff runs well. Saving my pennies for a new MB and memory, again. Gonna be a while till I can. :cray: John Binner, MCDST U.S. Dept Of Veteran Affairs, Senior IT Analyst OI&T, SPM, Clinical Imaging 2022 Build: Thermaltake Core X71 Full tower case, ASUS Prime X570-P Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core CPU, ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX6900 XT GPU, G.SKILL Ripjaws 32GB DDR 3600 RAM, Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 850W 80+ Gold PSU, Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L Water Cooler
April 24, 201214 yr Hey Jbinner, your rig is very close to mine! What settings do you suggest I use? I will be using only UTX, GEX and REX. Thanks :)
April 24, 201214 yr I run pretty much middle of the line for graphic settings; and that is running FSX in windowed mode, with Nvidia Inspector holding my frames to 30. I run REX, UTX and GEX just like you do. I try to offload AS2012 to a laptop, along with my "moving map" software and anything else I can run from a laptop, which is networked via simconnect. Long story short, try to get FSX by itself, with all the other crap running from a second machine. If I had the money to upgrade now, extra memory and MB (which I AM SURE is my bottleneck right now) I'd be able to put those apps back on the main rig. But running a seperate laptop doesnt bother me, gives me a place to pull up charts and still keep my screens windowed, "full" across all three monitors. Look up John J Binner on facebook, you'll see my 3-monitor setup as my banner image. April 24, 201214 yr 'd be able to put those apps back on the main rig. I still wouldn't put those apps back on it! Been running FS in a network with a dedicated FS computer for years and would never reconsider otherwise! ArDee
April 24, 201214 yr Commercial Member My own system is very close to this - i7 860 with HT off (which effectively makes it an i5 750), 4GB DDR3, GTX 570. Biggest thing you can do for FSX performance is OC the CPU up into the 4GHz range with proper cooling. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
April 24, 201214 yr works fine on C2D @3.7, 4gb ddr2 1066ghz and GTX460 Lj. Prodanovic
April 24, 201214 yr My rig is now core i5 760 @ 3.2ghz gtx 560ti I manage to run it smoothly and with good FPS after the *******' tweak, and my CPU and GPU are older than yours. Rick Almeida
April 24, 201214 yr I manage to run it smoothly and with good FPS after the *******' tweak, and my CPU and GPU are older than yours. Hi thanks - is the ******* tweak the Venetubo one?? Thanks
April 24, 201214 yr Im running an E6400 at 2.13. I run with only 10 percent airline traffic. No g/a or ground traffic. I set a high layer of cirrus clouds to add a littlt to the sky. Autogen set at sparse and scenery set at normal. Im really enjoying the ngx even with such a low end machine. Obviously doesnt look as great as the latest sb machines, but working great for me!
April 24, 201214 yr Hi thanks - is the ******* tweak the Venetubo one?? Thanks Yes, Luke, the very same+ the Nvidia Inspector tweak that Tabs listed somewhere here. Rick Almeida
April 24, 201214 yr Hey all, thanks so much for all your help you've been great. A final question :) I found the nvidia inspector tweak however I'm unsure of how to set my FSX stuff. Should I turn AA and AF off in game? I've looked over the guide but couldnt find anything to do with this!
April 24, 201214 yr Hi Luke. Send your fsx.cfg to *******' site to get the tweak that will advise what to turn on/off in FSX. Rick Almeida
April 24, 201214 yr THANK YOU SOSOSOSOSO MUCH GUYS!!!! I just ran the sim and got a CONSTANT 30fps! Granted auto density on normal with all traffic etc off but I dont really care about that stuff! I like good scenery and complex plane! ive never seen this kind of performance in FSX before but after following every tweak it runs FLAWLESSLY!!!!!!!! You've all made my week you wonderful people!!!!!!
