Rotating lighthouse

Recommended Posts

Somebody here, can't remember who, very sorry, commented about flying in fog and how a lighthouse was lit up, the lighthouse seemed to be a rotating type. Perhaps there was even an accompanying video, although memory fails me (don't laugh, it will happen to you soon enough Just%20Kidding.gif )

Anyway, I would like to file some feedback on that since as far as I know all lighthouses nowadays are of the flashing type. Has anybody noticed a rotating lighthouse in the game?

Thanks very much for your help.

Best regards.

Luis

I believe that video was the Barber's Point light, at the south-west tip of Oahu. I'm at work now, so I can't check, but load up some fog and take a look.

It might have been my video? I was commenting about the rotating lighthouses a while back. Sorry I've been sporadic on AVSIM or flying MS Flight. Lots of "daddy time" with my boys is a priority.

I dont' know much about lighthouses. Perhaps modern lighthouses are the flashing type. I think there are historical ones that have the old rotating beacons.

It's hard to be sure as I flew by at 130 kts., but it does appear to be a rotating beacon. From a distance it appears to flash, but when closer it gives the impression of rotating. Probably the only way to tell for sure is to land the Icon in the water and watch the light for a bit.

Thank you.

Well, wrong or right, it certainly looks cool!

I landed next to it, took my viewpoint right up to the top of the tower and set "Dense Fog." It's definitely a rotating double light.

Thanks very much, guys, for the info and the correction. My mistake, when I flew by getting the Aerocache, it looked like a flasher. The guys in the beta tell me the real thing is a rotating light, so the Flight model is accurate!

Oh, and yes, that is the video! Great work, Dale, and very scary. Nail%20Biting.gif

Thanks again.

I was racking my brain trying to remember if the real light rotated... Five years at Barber's Point and I never actually went out to where the light is sited. Saw it from a distance, but never paid attention.
