PMDG 737NG - worth buying it? Is it like PSS Airbusses?

Featured Replies

"This is a very blinkered approach emphasised by the childish use of PMDG emblems on their posts."You aren't serious johns are you? You are obviously wrong about the bugs and your very narrow minded opinion of folks. The banners are to show support for developers and software that we believe in. The "childish" attitude appears to be coming from you. No one in this thread, that I saw, "rubbished" the PSS products as you state. They, in fact seemed to give very honest, balanced opinions.

I for one have never compared the 2 (PSS and PMDG). I have been a PMDG NG beta tester since day one and I created the CDU and modified the MCP graphics that are on the 600-700 and CERTAINLY my banner is not childish John unless a 35 year old man playing with sims is childish? I guess I could always put a golf bag on my Tag to make me seem like an adult.".I thought it was a bug when for no apparent reason the second autopilot disengages when on the glideslope as does the light on the approach button. Perhaps you will correct me and tell me it is my fault" You bet I will sir. 1] Maybe you are not aware that once G/S is ACTIVE the MCP APP light goes out? Yes it does just like the REAL 737 NG. Maybe you are not aware that one is always taught to LOOK at the FMA and NOT the MCP lights for mode engagements? But regardless it is 100% bonafied correctly modelled after the real deal sir.2] Also maybe you are unaware that RETUNING the radios will disengage app mode if already engaged Or if one hits a TOGA button? I do not mind questions, I help out folks as much as possible simply because I love this hobby but when certain folks speak about things they have do not a clear understanding on and throw this in a bad light it sort of gets under my skin. As for Captain Sim's 727 it is a very nice aircraft. People had some issues with the flight model etc but since I am not a 727 expert I simply cannot comment on such things or I would be like you sir (no disrespect intended ;)) [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Darryl,The easiest way to not have to "endure" the PMDG cheerleading is not to open any threads concerning opinions about the PMDG products. Chances are, if you open it, you'll see that dog gone cheerleading!:-wave

>Want the latest? Buy PMDG!The last sentence tells it all. This whole thread is like a payed advertisment of PMDG. Certainly I will not rely on those over-enthusiastic statements of the "PMDG-worship-group/PMDG-Banner-Group" when judging if the 800/900-upgrade is worth to spend another $22.95 on this aircraft. Still waiting for impartial reviews......and to claim that the PMDG 737 (-800/900) has NO bugs is ridiculous - one has only to visit the PMDG support-forum to see that the first bugs (and bug-reports) are already "creeping out" of the darkness...

Yes sir, you absolutely do. And I have a right to respond:-jumpy

>You may be right but I wonder if all you PMDG fanatics(said>in the best possible taste)have tried Captain Sims 727 for>real quality and realism. It is a plane that has to be>flown. There are no bugs in it either.ROFL!

>I have a right to my opinion!!!Yes you do, but we don't have a right to ours?

Darryl,I do have the PMDG planes and I am NOT a cheerleader. Yes I do love the plane, and yes "I" do think it is superior to anything on the makrket to date IMHO.I am NOT going to compare it to anything and I really don't like the PSS vs PMDG comparison. PSS from what I have read both here on their forum and on their web site do great jobs on the Airbus. PMDG on the other hand has done great work on Boeing planes. Like some others I have for a long time both in real life and my sim life been a Boeing lover.PMDG has done a outstanding job on the 737NG, can't take that away from them. Is it 100% perfect, well no. People mention go their web site and look at the "bug" reports. Well lets talk about those "bugs", does the standby altimeter increment fast enought, do engines quite at V1, that is a strange issue, you have to go to the site to look at that one. The other "bug" issues, there is a whole in the bitmap in the VC somewhere. These bugs if any are so minor that one has to smile.Bottom line, the original poster ask to compare the PMDG work with the PSS planes. The planes have their pluses and minues, for me, and I mean just for me, the PMDG 737 is the ONLY plane that will be in my hanger right now.sums it up for my answer to this post, but that is it.Bob
