Aerocache VOR confusion

Recommended Posts

Hi,

304 degrees to Upolu (on the 124 radial).

Somebody's making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be. At least, that's my best guess.

If you're talking about the aerocache at the intersection of three VOR radials, yes. Microsoft used the opposite (reciprocal) headings by mistake, if you reverse them you'll find it no problem.

There is another aerocache today with 2 VOR intersecting. Same mistake...

I think MS is doing this on purpose... I can't check the description of that aerocache right now but they don't give us the radials but the headings you need to fly. I posted on the Steamforum some time ago that this MIGHT (!) be nice for newbies, but in the end it simply is confusing and NOT the proper way to do it. VOR navigation is very complicated for newcomers and so imho it is very important to use the proper terminology. The fact that today's aerocache has the same 'mistake' makes it clear it's not a mistake. Pity. It's a shame because Flight doesn't offer too much when it comes to 'simming' and now they DO add something that has to do with simming, but in the wrong way again...

No, they don`t give us headings, but courses. And therefore the description is wrong.

It is not 142° from 113,3 but 322°

Thanks for the tip !

Started just before 8am deadline PDT, didn't finish until 8:10am PDT.

It 'let' me keep playing.

Also first time ever trying VOR.

I found it at 6,000 feet with out the VOR, in the dark, even found my way back to the airport and landed. Boy was it dark, and I still think that the runway lights are not near bright enough!
