Flightaware Route

When looking at a route on Flightaware, it says ONTN16. How do I interpret that route?

It's an FAA identifier or what is called a "preferred routing". It's entered by the AT Controller so they don't have to type in the entire routing into the computer.

I discovered if you press the decode link it list all the waypoints in that route. I think I understand it now.

Just be aware that what flightaware shows may be what you get in the initial clearance-but you may also fly nothing at all like what it shows...more often than not in my experience..

Art, would you mind posting that route from flightaware? You haven't provided a link I'm afraid.

Thanks.

**EDIT**

Interesting, I found a flight between Ontario and Santa Monica airports with ONTN7 routing, must be for GA in the USA, I've not seen that before.
