Lines in the sky

Recommended Posts

I am running FSX with REX OD and I have lines (a defined color gradient) in my sky textures, especially the night sky. The color is in 32 bit in the settings. I have a 27 rose black samsung monitor, nvidia gtx 570, and a i72600k at 4.7. Not really sure what could be causing this but it sure does destroy the realism. Thanks =)

I wouldn't worry about that... you're overspeeding the airframe and that could end in disaster!!! :P

You probably have a 16bit resolution set in FSX (ending in x16, e.g. 1920x1080x16) set it to the 32bit one.

I think that it's an FSX limitation that occurs only when there are different colours in the sky.

On the other hand, why are you in the air at an altitude that looks like 30,000 ft or more with the chocks, parking brake set, landing gear down and overspeeding? :P

Thanks,

Yeah we have some serious issues with airmanship to address first, before we even think about that sky...

Well i just used to map to bring it up to altitude quickly to show a screen shot. The color is set to 32 bit. I was not sure if this is normal for FSX or not. I guess i will have to live with it.

I get some color banding as well from time to time , usually in the sunset or sunrise hours. Aside from making sure that your running 32bit and not 16bit, I dont think there is anything else that can be done. Although I have read that using calibration software to calibrate your monitor can make it less noticable, especially the gamma settings being adjusted. I've never taken the step to really properly calibrate and just do it by eyeing it, but it could be an alternative to look into. Also, I have found that using ENB during those hours and lessen the banding effect as well by adjusting the brightness and contrast.

If you have a Samsung monitor, be sure to shut off the "Magic Color" setting.
