Stack/Hash CTD Using Avliasoft EFB & FS2Crew. How to Avoid.

Recommended Posts

I have discovered an issue with Avliasoft EFB when used with FS2Crew on a network configuration. As you all know, Simconnect is used by PMDG NGX as well as EFB, There is a chance that you can experience what is called a Stack/Hash error, which will cause FSX to CTD. It is easy to blame FS2Crew for this error as it can occur, mostly during a checklist flow.

The cause of this is loading a saved EFB flightplan. Always load a freshly made flight plan in EFB and this issue will not occur.

I have seen these errors before when a saved EFB has been used in conjunction with the NGX,. This could also happen on a stand alone configuration, as EFB still uses simconnect, even stand alone.

I am only posting this in case anybody experiences this error, and if you do, you will know where to look.

Thanks for the sharing that.

The Avliasoft is also said to have some problems with the FO's PFD if the VSD is selected, but I heard they fixed that in an update?

Yes they did Brian. VSD works good now.

Does it? I have the latest EFB and on my system VSD still prevents EFB from displaying traffic. The only fix provided by Aivlasoft so far is to disable VSD in FS2Crew ini file. But this is topic for their support forum I think :)

Julian, that is absolutely brilliant.

I have been having FSX lock-up for no apparent reason long way into a flight or short way into a flight, after I had loaded a saved EFB plan as well as running FS2Crew. This finding by you now throws a lot of light on why that has been happening. At one stage I got so p----sed off, I just shut down the sim to and abandoned everything for another less frustrating day and time.

VSD still prevents EFB from displaying traffic.

Fully agree with you on this.

Sorry, what I omitted to add was the VSD no longer cause a severe frame rate drop. We still have to put up with the EFB from not displaying traffic with VSD enabled.

Yes Rick, darn frustrating. Spend 30 mins setting up a flight then kaboom. Interesting to see if the rest of your flights are trouble free now ?

Well this thread explains a few things I thought it was just me I suspected EFB was causing Stakhash CTDs but wasn't sure. By the was what is VSD?

Thanks
