exe file name

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of backing up files for a new computer build and can't seem to locate my original install file for RC4.

Can someone please post the exact name of the file so I can search for it. I have tried the obvious RC4 but no luck.

Thanks Ken

The install file from a download may have been rcv43.zip. It would expand to rcv43.exe and two binary files rcv43-0.bin and rcv43-1.bin. The layout on the CD would be the three files I believe.

rcv43.exe would use the two .bin files for the install and do all of the registry updates as well.

If you want to install to your new pc send an e-mail to jd@jdtllc.com explaining your situation and request a download link. You'll need your user name and original e-mail address when you ordered. When your user information is updated then the auto-registration will work for your new system.

After installing on your new system update to the latest FSUIPC and makerwys and then rerun the RC scenery rebuild again.

RC must be installed after FS is installed so it can look at your scenery.

I don't recall if the rcv43.exe and two .bin files were wiped by the install or not.

Thanks Ronzie

Very informative reply. All the details I need.

Even though I have all my FSX installs on a separate drive it always is long tedious process to get everything working again on a new install.

Also for those who have customized the fixed database files such as c4.csv (airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and callsigns), f4.csv (comms), and any others excluding r4.csv and a4.csv (scenery data will be rewritten with the scenery database update) should copy those modified files to a removable device to place them back on a new installation.

I remind all that the exact formatting of .csv files must be maintained and carefully modified by a text editor (notepad, wordpad) and never a spreadsheet or database application. Those are easy to corrupt requiring a reinstallation of RC if a backups are not maintained.

it would be hard to guess what you called it. when you downloaded it, you could have called it anything. the default name will be rcv43-07-08-01.zip
