RAD/Nav panel

Does not the insert Radio panel handle nav data input for ILS programming? i do not mean the FMC but the need to fly online in some areas where u have to manually fly approaches without LNAV and VNAV!!!

The navigation frequencies are tuned via the FMC. You can insert an ILS frequency, two VOR frequencies, two ADF frequencies, and insert two additional frequencies that you may use later on.

 

The radio panel only deals with communication frequencies. The 747 and 777 (and I think the 787) are the only modern Boeing aircraft in production that use this method.

I'm not sure if this addresses your question jacrabit. In the -400 you can manually tune the frequncies for an ILS but as bank angle said, this cant be accomplished on the communication's console. When manualy tuning an ILS freq. in the NAV/RAD page you will also need to input the inbound course as well as the frequency. You should then see the letter 'M' next to your freq indicating this was MANUALLY set. Hope that answers your question.
