best Jet fighter I can get for $25?

Recommended Posts

what's the best jet fighter I can get for $20-$25? Russian Jet would be great. I'm kinda bored staring at the MCP for 4 hours. Just a seasonal boredom so I'm not investing too much in it.

cheers

That's a pretty broad topic but if you want a classic western jet fighter from the 50's, then there's the Section8 F86 - and it's freeware!!!! It's amazing ---- one of the best freeware products ever released.

If you want to move to the next generation, there's the Cloud9 F4 Phantom. It is a very overlooked product IMO - I think it's outstanding!

I don't know of anything else that touches those two for overall quality in FS9.

The Cloud9 F104 got a lot of positive mention "back in the day" though I have the Captain Sim F104 and I fly it often and am very happy with it.

Virtavia have a very diverse collection but they are of uneven quality - they are almost all ex Alpha Sim and some have pretty rudimentary VCs and very little systems modelling. But they do have a lot of variety.

And then there's the amazing Mirage IIIS (freeware) from Isra - it is as good or better than almost any payware.

Flight1 have some great looking Mig15 and Mig17 options - not sure how much they cost but they look excellent.

These are all what I would consider "state of the art" - there are other options but as far as I know, the F86, F4 and Mirage IIIS mentioned above are the best out there.

HI

Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look at F86and Mirage. They're free, nothing can go wrong when we got nothing to lose.

I just took a look at F4 Phantom review, it looks nice, it's nicer than F5. However, I'll just get the free ones since most of a2a products are below $20 which suites my budget :P . Btw, do you know what type of fighters in Baa Baa Blackship serials back in the 80's? Would love to fly it :)

Cheers

They were Vought F4U Corsairs. The 'A6Ms' featured in the series (and the pilot movie) were the ones built for the much bigger budget movie, Tora! Tora! Tora! and were actually converted North American T-6 Texans. The series was filmed in California, mostly near Santa Barbara.

Thank you Alan, love the series. Can you please recommend what's the best F4U? Btw the series aired in the late 80's here, didn't know the series was older than TORA TORA TORA

Cheers
