Re-installing FS9 - 'Must Have' add-ons?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

My first post here, please be kind :)

I've just recently upgraded and reformatted my PC from Vista to Windows7 64bit and I will be re-installing FS9 soon.

I would be very grateful if anybody could suggest some 'must have' add-ons for FS9, be it freeware or payware (excluding aircraft and airport scenery).

So far I have these two, any additions would be great:

FS Real Time

Activesky 6 (or is there a more updated / better version in the market?)

Thank you

Does it work with IFR flightplans in default ATC? I just have a look at it but don't really understand.

No Sk1nNy.

You select an airport, or it will randomly choose one for you. Select the runway, select ILS or not, select distance, altitude, visabilty and whether you wish the proggie will autotune the ILS frequency. Connect to FS, preferably a saved flight where aircraft has an appropriate approach speed and viola! There you are ready to practice whatever approach you fancy. Run the demo however. Although limited to only a couple of airports its sufficient to work out whether its right for you. To me its now indispensible.

REX and GE Pro.

I bought the Cessna AI package from HTAI models when it was on sale for $10. Well worth it. It provides a lot of extra GA traffic, both the planes and the traffic files. (Hmmm. It's still on sale.) The planes have country-specific tail numbers, unlike default FS9 traffic. At 100% traffic, though, a lot of small airports don't have enough parking for all the planes, but that's easy enough to fix with....

FSUIPC, Traffic Tools, AFCAD.

Re: disable xml (autogen-bug)

The xml autogen memory leak was fixed in 9.1. I would only disable if you have performance issues from the additional autogen objects (or hate fast-food)... unlikely with today's modern machines (and diets).
