How to edit brake effectiveness

Recommended Posts

The brakes are way to powerfull I notice in the NGX. Is there any cfg file edit I can make to reduce the effectiveness. What would be even better would be to have a few different assignable buttons to be able to brake normally, lightly and heavily. Unfortunately it is either no brakes or slam your face to the panel stop. Would one be able to do this with the full FSUIPC?

Thanks!

Just like Steve said- brakes are spot on. They couldn't get any more realistic within FSX.

I think he do not have rudder/braking pedals, so if you use keyboard or joystick button to do that, you have no brake or full brake.

If you do not brake axis assigned, you can tap brake key, its not perfect solution but it will not slam you in your screen.

Seems a little unrelistic to pin the PAX against their upright tray tables on each landing. The quick tapping works ok. One question, are the rudder pedals variable? Or does it just send the on/off command like the key press. If they are varieable like real brakes then thats my ticket.

Thanks

They are variable.

I just had a thought though- aren't you using autobrakes? I've only had to use manual braking when I landed at Santos Dumont a little overweight.... But that's another story.

Yea I use autobrakes, you caught me! It drives me nuts when taxiing and pulling into the gate with either full or no brakes though. Do the rudder pedals use a variable brake or is FSX even capable of that? I may have to buy some rudder pedals if that is the case. Actually I would have them allready if I could fit them under the desk.

As far as being spot on I guess I have never been in a 737 when the pilot really tried to stop. It just seems a little quick to stop to me even when heavy.

The 737 can stop on astonishingly short distance if it really wants to... of course there is rarely a reason for it to happen, but it can brake from hundred to zero in mere hundreds of meters.

Guys- pmdg have gone to ridiculous amounts of attention to detail in the ngx. They are obsessive.

You can bet your last dollar that a system as important as the brakes is modelled as accurate as possible,.

you will probably find that it all depends if they want to exit the rwy on what exit point for a quicker taxi to the ramp, so if theres a high speed exit point half way down the rwy then they probably brake harder, or if there no halfway exit point other than the end of the rwy than they wont brake too hard other than to roll out
