I have somehow got some corrupt win7 system files, how, I do not know. I have spent the last 48hrs trying to sort it out,

but no joy!

This has come to light from get REXe and this not running on my system. It errors with a MDAC error.

As MDAC is part of the win7 OS, my last resort will have to be a full system restore and all the grief that will bring getting FSX back on.

So I've had a thought; if some very kind person could send me in a zip or what ever the following:

system folder and files from c:\program files\common files. I need the complete 'system folder'

This might help if not I will have to do a system restore.

my e-mail is:

[email protected]

Many thanks

Clive

So sorry for your troubles you are experiencing in regards to this Clive, but I am not sure this is going to solve anything for you. For the record, I want folks to understand that REX Essential did not cause this MDAC issue.

Clive, have you tried a windows repair? That should fix up the issue in the first instance....

Tim,

Absolutely, REXe DID NOT cause this issue, it just brought it to light and now I need to fix it so I can run REXe.

Leo,

Windows repair? IS this an easy option? If so how on win7

Thanks

Clive Joy

IMHO getting a system folder off an unrelated PC would be disastrous - I can't see it working??

Have you tried sfc /scannow and if that fails to fix the problem, as above a repair should do it.

Guys

thanks, I thought it would be a long shot. Anyway, backup up stuff to external drives right now.

I've tried sfc /scannow, and it found corrupt dll's and could not repair them :-(

looks like my Sunday is going to be busy getting FSX backup and running, let alone anything else.

Right this is it.

Going to select the 'Restore operating system and retain User data'

This is the 'Acer eRecovery Management' system second option if this doesn't work then its option one: 'Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults'Nail%20Biting.gif

See you all when I return...hopefully not to long.
