+1, and I would consider the same setup, but with the 3770K and 2666MHz RAM, as RAM speed seems to give a significant bump in performance.

Despite the things they say about the ivy bridges not hitting the same mark as sandy's, i would still go for an Ivy. They are find up to about 4.7GHz and after that they aren't great but with good cooling I think they can be handled.

If one waits indefinitely what should be the criteria for upgrading? How long should they wait?

 

If there were a product right around the corner that were known to transform FSX as we know it I would whole-heartedly agree. Since there isn't 't , now is as good a time as any.

If you have to have something now go with the SB.

A piece of advise (that's what I always do), first thing to do is to buy the mobo and when picking a mobo make sure you'll use it to it's full capacity, here is what I mean by that, lets say you get a mobo (in the future) that can use DDR3 3000MHz like this one http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157322 make sure you buy DDR3 3000MHz memory.

 

if you know you won't pay for that kind of mem. and you'll use some DDR3 2200MHz save yourself some $$ and buy a mobo like this one http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131760 I mean why will you pay for something you won't use. To me it's like buying a Ferrari and dropping a 4 cylinder in it.....it will work but not as intended.
