May 15, 200422 yr Microsoft, It's amazing for the first time in FS history 'scenery' is not on everyone's major grip list... If you guys can improve performance of the sim overall like adding HT compatibility, you could then focus on the larger issues at hand that are mentioned here in the forums...I'm glad we are finally at a point were everyone agrees eye candy is the least of our worries concerning fixes and updates for FS2k6. Microsoft you guys have already done an awesome job in the scenery department, let's get these other issues fixed... :-beerchug Oh yea, thanks Microsoft for a great sim that has entertained and taught so many for so many years... May 15, 200422 yr Notify MS that aircraft prefer to land in the upwind direction! At EGTE RW26 (Facing the west) is the most commonly used but, try and tell ATC at EGTE (Exeter) that! they always instruct using RW08 downwind!????For takeoff too with a rising gradient at the end of an fairly short runway using 08 is nothing short of insanityDave. If it burns Kerosene and makes a noise, I'm interested. May 15, 200422 yr >I'd like to see some realistic damage modelling -- such that>the aircraft have to be flown correctly or they are "damaged">. At the moment, it is too easy to just "blast off" and not>observe engine parameters, etc. Aircraft are highly>complicated pieces of machinery and the present models present>them as "toys" that you can do anything to without damaging>them. Realistic damage modelling would certainly make it MORE>"real as it gets">>BarryI second that one Barry, after a while it gets boring to fly "perfect" airplanes all the time. One of the great things about real flying is the feeling of being on top of the situation all the time, a feeling that FS2004 can't give you due to the lack of realistic failures handling. Also, I would love to see some evaluation mode that after each flight gives you some sort of score based on your performance as a pilot, a feature like this was found in Sublogic's ATP sim back in the 80s, I loved that sim!To complete my list:- Fix the enroute/approach frequency areas (I've been instructed to contact one area, then another, then the same area as before several times during initial approach).- VERY IMPORTANT, would be great to have those steam gauges smooth as silk.- Add more sound variables to the sound.cfg file, so developers have more choices to add more sounds to an aircraft.- Improve the ground handling adding the ability to have wet/iced/snowed/mudded, etc. runways.- Polish the weather engine, it would be great to have the ability to darken the scenery during overcast situations, clouds casting shadows might be great too.- Everything else people have mentioned here.Carlos.
May 15, 200422 yr Unfortunately Tim, it looks like something is not working as you say.I bought the Navajo mainly because of the damaging model you offered in your original release, even though it was working with some flaws I liked to fly your airplane during that time. After the service release, I've been flying the Navajo like a NASCAR racer and the damaging model is not working as you say, I've been flying full power during more than ~18 flights adding more than 20 hours total and the engines are working perfectly, that makes me think that you disable the damaging model (which by the way, wasn't mentioned in FlightSim's review, I would have mentioned that "unique" feature in my review if it's really there, but that's just me).Barry, we might have to wait until FS2006 or maybe some other developers come with something like we want, I've also suggested something similar in PMDG's forum. Now lets go back and stay on the topic.Carlos.
May 15, 200422 yr I too would like to see detailed scenery and autogen's view distance extended substantially... The only thing we can adjust now concerning this is to extend the detailed scenery. We have no way of extending the autogen (Microsoft would first have to fix the framerate problem with autogen)...Something tells me this might not get addressed... :-hmmm We've seen this problem is too many versions of Flight Simulator already... May 15, 200422 yr Microsoft when you release FS2k6 and it needs a patch for various issues, please release a patch. I can't understand why this has been such a problem with the last two versions of Flight Simulator... May 15, 200422 yr >Microsoft still needs to fix the separation issue with AI>aircraft, there's no getting around that...>I agree that the seperation is not realistic. However, I think the game is programed to give the player difficulties in approach. I'm sure it generates an extra flight after calculating my approach alt, and speed to give me a "go around". I think they did this to "enhance" the game. And in that mode: last night (flyin' a CRJ) I got a go around at BNA that took me out 40 miles before the turn back toward the runway. Then cleared me to 2600', which I had to cruise at for 20 miles or so. Not very realistic IMHO.But also realistically, how can they "program" for every contingency? It's going to get it wrong at least some of the time. It's only a computer. (ha)John
May 15, 200422 yr The real world is not a static, stationary place. As you fly over roads in FS2006, I would love to see busy freeways in the city, light traffic on country roads, and maybe the occasional train or ship in the ocean. At large airports, there should be all of the various trucks and support vehicles running around that give the airports such a busy feel. While this might be pretty difficult to implement, I think that it would add a lot to making FS "as real as it gets". And if Microsoft plans to continue the FS series for many years to come, it would be a continued step in the right direction to creating a realistic environment. I would also like to see the option to have high resolution ground textures. Right now, all ground features consist of 4.8 meter squares. This looks alright at several thousand feet, but as I get sloser to the ground I would like to see that the beaches and roads etc. aren't really just solid color lines. Instead, the resolution of ground features could be limited only by the resolution of the bitmaps that they are made from. One other thing I would like to see, which has already been said, is an AI system for helicopters. It would, of course, have to be very different from the fixed-wing AI aircraft. Since helicopters commonly don't just fly from point A to point B, a simple waypoint system could be created that defines the latitude, longitude, and altitude of the helicopter at certain points along its flight. In addition, it would define what the helicopter does at each waypoint (i.e. continue to the next wp, or hover for 5 minutes, or fly circles, or touch down for a minute and take off again)One more thing: a better visual model for the 737-400 please! The other default planes look pretty darn good as far as I can tell, but the 737 definitely needs work (take a look at the engines and the nose especially)Microsoft, thanks for making such a wonderful simulation that is loved by so many people across the world! Please listen to our ideas and continue to improve this great ga...*ahem* sim!-ScottWoodinville, WA (a 15 minute drive north of Redmond);)

May 15, 200422 yr I would just like it to run well on my current computer so I don't need to upgrade.Richard
May 15, 200422 yr The first thing I would like to see is improved ATC that take SID/STAR into account. And also the possibility to declare an emergance. As it is now you can't make a IFT flightplan and fly it because ATC will order you to depart from it.
May 15, 200422 yr Too much Americanisation in previous versions, ATC is American, ATIS is American and runway markings etc...
May 15, 200422 yr I would like MS to let developers be able to have more control over items such as the SPOILERS! Their current logic does not take into account enough varibles for airliners. It's like all or nothing with no inbetween. Turbulence is exaggerated to the extreme. There is only CAT III ILS. Pitch is another issue that needs more defining. Ah many more items but those spring right into my mind ;-)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 16, 200422 yr It would be nice to see some of the third party addons made into the next sim. Things like Active Camera, FS Failure, FS Flight Tracker,FSScreen, Ultimate Traffic, FSUIPC are just a few I can think of. I'm sure MS could make it worthy for those developers. Certain things that have become tryed and true should be standards. Its not like I dont want to pay for them because I will and do with ever new release but its just the fact of having to wait til they are compatiable and not being able to really enoy the sim as one is use to til much later after its in your computer. MS wouldnt have to actually accept repsoncibilty for these add ons just during install make them with check boxes to install with the main program. During which time the user could buy the selected programs and each item has the developers info for product support. Hyper thread and true surround sound would make a huge preformance enhancement I believe. I would love to hear ATC on my headset and the other sounds on my speakers and this could easy be done with the center channel and a mono headset.ATC seems to be a must and should get the same attention that weather got in FS9.Its time to have FS go international as well. I'm an American and have never really flown out side of the US in the sim main because of not having charts but after so many hours of simming you find that all the runways seem to start to look the same so it really doesnt matter if your in ten buck two or JFK it all seems the same. But if each country had different voices and different procedures as does in the real world then boy what an experience an around the world trip would be then.Adventures need to be relooked at. make them more interactive like rescues, traffic reports, police needs, not a big deal but a little something for when the normal way of flying seems to get old.All I really care about for the little things are bringing back the static like how we had in 2000 with atis on all freq's, Pilot controlled lighting, marshellers, seperate volume controls for the different Comm radios, and better ATC.
