June 7, 201214 yr Hi guys, just downloaded the demo last night, after a bit of faffing finally got it working (just needed to run the initial setup again). So far it looks pretty sweet although after 15 odd years of using the keyboard in FS will take some getting used to! I'm mainly flying the NGX at the moment and I was wondering if the software can control every little bit of the aircraft, for example I was trying to get the copilot to set the pressurisation panel to 35000 but I couldn't get him to do it...I could get him to set the landing altitude though...And how do i get him to set the overhead power switch such as switching from APU to GEN 1 for example? Lastly, calling up checklists, the co pilot was always reading the checklist to me, can I read it to the copilot and he switches the buttons etc? Cheers Dan 🛫
June 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Dan I'm not sure that the FO can do 'everything' at the moment in the NGX, but standby I'm just awaiting a reply from the FS++ team Clive Clive Joy
June 7, 201214 yr Hi Dan, Welcome!! If you use the NGX you will have no problems, the FS++ team have integrated the MCE program to the SDK, and it is basically open field!! For example, i asked if we could have access to the fire handles in the NGX and they enabled this within 2 weeks. A couple of things you need to ensure: run the wizard first, any time you install or reinstall. Once you load the aircraft you wish to interact with, in you case the NGX, go to the checklist tab, and ensure it does NOT say "generic jet", if it does, select change and from the list, select "PMDG NGX" Then have a look in the documentation provided, there is a document called PMDG NGX Flow.... Use it, you can create your own but this gives you an idea of the massive amount of fun you can have with this program. I have uploaded updated Flow scripts for the NGX to the Avsim Library, have a look, and if you need a hand, let me know. The FS++ team can enable everything that is included in the SDK, but there are too many things so they wont do it unless people actually want a specific control. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
June 7, 201214 yr LOL, had no idea you were awake, and typing at the same time as me! Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
June 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member I know, only just mind! Quick question, I've already done my 'clear on left.......clear on the right ' things, works great btw I've been thinking about some more interaction with the cabin crew, so for example, if I wanted to call the cabin crew(press button on OHP) and them to react to that .........hello captain, what can I do for you me.......how's it going back there? .........various replies ...... can I have a coffee/tea/lunch...etc .....OK be right back See where I'm going? SO it all start with the cabin crew button press Is that a user creation or a thing for FS++ team Clive Joy
June 7, 201214 yr Hmmmmm thats a good one.... Unless we can integrate the button press via voxkey i would say it is for the FS++ wizards. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
June 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member OK, so are we saying that any action that requires a reaction from a 'button' press in the cockpit has to come from FS++ guys? Just dropped them an e-mail, let you know what they say Will, did yo usee the MCE banners that Al created? looked really good, I thought. I've had a conversation with the FS++ guys and they are not very enthusiastic on using them here on AVSIM, but if users want to use them.....! here or elsewhere! Clive Joy
June 7, 201214 yr I saw the banners from Al, i know we are a minority who use MCE, but i would not mind the differentiation. People like PFE, or FS2Crew or MCE....i will get a banner, mostly because i am happy for people to identify me as an MCE user and can ask me questions about it because i am happy to help. June 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member Dan, Here's the answer from the FS++ team: Yes, the NGX has an SDK and many things are possible including those you mentioned. Looks like we forgot to implement that command (set cruise altitude), so consider it added in next update. To switch engine generators. "Generator one on" "Generator two on" "Generator engine one on" "Generator engine two on" "Generator number one on" "Generator number two on" "all engine generators on" (will switch both GEN1 and GEN 2) There are many more variations. I don't recall them all. I'll get back to you with the full list of commands later this afternoon. I will post the full list when I get it Clive Joy
June 7, 201214 yr Author Thanks a lot for your replies. Glad my question will be implemented! If i think of anything else I will post :-) 🛫
June 7, 201214 yr Hmmmm yes and no. A checklist is simply a guide to ensure the pilot flying is satisfied with the status of the systems in the aircraft. You can, however, with mCE's voxscript feature create commands so the first officer moves whatever switches you want(as long as the aircraft is supported and interface has been created) For example, i fly the MD11 a lot, so i created a procedure where at my request, the FO will set up the cockpit "my way"....hope that makes sense? June 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member Just to add to Will's reply. If you look in the 'docs' folder of MCE you will find lots of information about the commands that are already in MCE, but quiet rightly unless the interface for that aircraft has been implemented in MCE they will not work. Example, I fly the BeaverX around Alaska, auto pilot commands work, but 'set flap 10' doesn't, but 'flaps down' does. Hence we have a topic 'Which aircraft would you like to see interfaced in the future', so please feel free to add to this list. I'm just working on some scripts for more interaction with the cabin crew. (I wish Travis would just stick to is FO job).....lol..............@TRAVIS not you really just you in MCE :LMAO: Clive Joy
