June 15, 201213 yr Hi All, I know there are some that are using RC4 so I decided I would ask 2 questions. 1 about RC the other MCE. 1. I installed RC4 on a network just to get it up and going before installing MCE. During the RC4 installation, it mentioned that it could not locate the dll.xml file for FSX on the FSX computer and that I may have an issue. It did not state what type of issue I might have but nonetheless it was mentioned. Fired up and did a short IFR hop and all seemed to work fine. RC4 was very responsive and did not have any glitch's or any delays to speak of. Just wondered if there might be something that may pop up down the road with this dll.xml file. It did state to look into the documentation, as I may have to install the entry manually. I could not find any info on this. 2. I will have two entries into the mce.ini file located in the appdata>>roaming location that will need to be modified. I do not have the mce.ini file yet but I remember one was "UseRadarContact" or something to that effect. The other had to do with "UseRC4registryEntries" I believe. These would be both set to "1". Also I believe I need to set multi-line enabled int the FSUIPC UI. Is there anything else I need to do with the mce.ini file or any other steps that I need to do? 3. Using MCE voice for ATC with RC4 I am a little confused. As an example. When the RC4 Menu shows "Change Rwy", or similar options which may appear that one must select an initial menu choice before moving to the next level of menu choices. When at this type of menu option, do I need to press the option first then talk to ATC using the options that would follow the initial entry? Just a little confused on when to start talking to ATC with these types of menus. Any help would be very much appreciated. (I posted this on the official forum but not answer yet) Officially retired
June 16, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Bob Here we go Using MCE voice for ATC with RC4 I am a little confused. Requesting another runway (-Req RWY) Before MCE, to request another runway for takeoff, your typical workflow would be to press the numeric key “2” for “Req RWY”, wait for the next page to display, then select one from the available runways at that particular airport, again using the keyboard. Not anymore… When you see the following Radar Contact screen, in fact even if it’s hidden it still applies Just ask for another runway, like you would in real world Ground, Lufthansa 847, request runway 25 left for departure Tower, Lufthansa 847, requesting runway 25 right for takeoff. MCE should then take care of the rest, i.e. scrolling through the available runways and selecting the appropriate one. The only requirement is to include a runway that does exist for that particular airport. Otherwise it won’t work. Here's my part from the .ini and I use RC4 all the time [ATC] UseRadioNoise=1 StaticNoiseLevel=3 SecondaryNeedAtcWindow=0 atc1=0 atc2=0 atc3=1 atc4=1 atc5=1 UseRadarContact=1 IgnoreRC4Registry=0 If you have moved RC4 installation folder, chances are the registry entry is pointing to the old location. If that's the case, open your user mce.ini (not the one in installation folder) in C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Multi Crew Experience\mce.ini Make sure the ATC section looks like this [ATC] UseRadioNoise=1 StaticNoiseLevel=1 SecondaryNeedAtcWindow=0 atc1=0 atc2=0 atc3=1 atc4=1 atc5=0 UseRadarContact=1 IgnoreRC4Registry=1 Don't forget to save the file. Note the "IgnoreRC4Registry=1" which will cause MCE to prompt you for RC4 path. After that it will be able to read the rcv3.dat. Although you could start either MCE or RC4 first, the best trouble free sequence is... Start FSX and wait for aircraft to be ready to fly Start RC4, select flight plan then press the <Start RC> button and wait for aircraft to be at correct location (flight plan departure) Start MCE I installed RC4 on a network just to get it up and going before installing MCE. Will come back when I have an answer. Have you asked/looked in the RC4 forum? (I posted this on the official forum but not answer yet) Where's that Bob  Bob, this has also been answered here by the FS++ Team :Nerd: http://rainbird.heav...57-rc4-with-mce Clive Joy
June 16, 201213 yr Author Well, once I installed MCE the RC4 went south. Could not get it to do nothing. Also, I get the standby for minutes on end. The delay is killing me. So back to the drawing board. It must have something to do with the network. I guess if I had the 2 computers connected with a cable it might work better than WiFi. Bob Officially retired
August 26, 201213 yr On the subject of a network Can I run MCE on a second machine separate from the FSX machine? I have installed MCE on the second machine FsInsider.dll was placed in the FSX root folder during installation. When I run MCE after starting FSx I eventually get an error saying MCE cant find FSX data and make sure the fsinsider module is in the root folder. Both machines run W7 64 bit ULT User controle disabled on both machines. I run FSUIP registered and WideFS. MCE.exe has been allowed through both firewalls on both machines.
