A quick fly by of Pro ATC

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Yes you can, but it's long and boring, you should create a FP between EGKK and LEPA, generate it and erase all the waypoint that you don't need, after on the map clic on Vor or int some points appear on the map right click on it, the new wp appear in the flight plan, do the same for the others, finally go to the airway right clic and change by what you want if it's possible to do .

I tried that last week between lfqq and lepa, it's great.

Thanks Fred and Jim for that....

other couple of questions.

1.what happens if you get it to run a plan from say, london to new york ? can this plan then be edited with a different routing using lat // longs (eg. n50w060 5060n)

2.If i buy it this weekend, does it need patching ?

3.Does it still not read/understand addon scenery for gates, runways etc etc

thanks

Once the FP is 'loaded' into ProATCX then it cannot be changed. As Fred has stated up to then it can be changed

Yes latest patch ia 1.0.4.2 and availible on the ProATCX web site

3.Does it still not read/understand addon scenery for gates, runways etc etc

Correct, coming very soon

thanks

Been awhile since it's launch. What's the current thought? Has it progressed from all the earlier issues? Is it a worthy buy for someone who owns the main competitors?

+1 latest review on this

too late i bought it, figured like weather, one needs more than one option for ATC.

Not installed it yet, and not looking forward to reading manual, maybe YouTube can help with tutorial.

Also downloaded VoxAtc, its got 7 day free trial.

Need to ditch Rc4 that is always needing new license everytime i improve PC so that i can fly.

Is it a worthy buy for someone who owns the main competitors?

No.It's still an alpha/beta product. I'd stay away if I were you.

Just paid 40 euros for this, spend sometime looking at the GUI and manuals, could not figure out how to load existing fsx flight plan. For me this is a basic minimum

Looks like it only allows you to create plans of its variant, or i cant read.

Wish you had said that earlier, just paid 40 euros for it, spend 20mins reading manual and GUI trying to find a way to load exisitng FSX flight plan , but does not look like this basic minmum is possible.

Does anyone know if its possible to load fsx flight plan to ProAtc, and if so how. I hope asking this question does not result in another locked topic.

In any case just downloaded PFE, give that a try.

Sorry you already shelled out eur 40.You only needed to run a search here on avsim. There are a few threads around with lots of info/warnings.

Yes. Open up Pro-ATC-X. You should be on the flightplan tab. If you have already made your flightplan right click on the saved plan and select Export to ... Look up your My Documents/Flight Simulator Files and click okay. Your FSX plan has been saved to the fsx flightplan folder. The flight plan is now ready to be loaded when you start your next flight. I apologize for saying in your previous post (which I locked) that the directions are in the manual and on their website. Well, they are in the forum under "saving flight plans" but not yet in the manual. That will come eventually. There are a lot of people on the ProATC forum that will help you answer questions such as this one. You should register and ask your question(s) there. Your locked thread appeared to indicate to me you were trying to provoke others to come on and make improper statements about a commercial product. This product has been discussed in length here and I think you can read that it is still in beta but it is work in progress and most users are getting a lot of enjoyment out of the product.

We had another thread which I started regarding updates to ProATC. I had to lock that too as several individuals could not behave themselves. Hopefully this topic will not get out of hand too. This post is quite old and has a lot of out-dated information that no longer applies to the ProATC product. The product works well and the developers are constantly listening to the community and making fixes as they are discovered. I admit it wasn't ready for primetime when it was first released in June (I think) but it has come a long way since then.

Best regards,

Jim

I use it (the last version) with the Flight1 Cessna Mustang. Works very well, the flight plan is updated automatically when SID and STARs are assigned.

I would say stay as far away as possible from this ATC add on...I bought it a couple weeks ago and tried to do about 12 flights with it. Several key important elements of a flight's ATC simply don't work with PRO ATCX. Default ATC is way better. I bought it because I saw all these posts saying people are now making successful flights with it. Let me be clear...it just doesn't work and it has a long long way to go. I am very upset that I spent the money on this add on and I asked the developer for my money back and he said no and told me they are working on it. In my opinion they have about a year or more of kinks to figure out before it can even be taken seriously especially for the astronomical amount of money I spent for not even a half working add on. Since then I downloaded VOX ATC and it is AWESOME! I highly recommend it over this program which doesn't even work. In no way affiliated with any add on developer I am just giving my 2 cents.

Could you be more specific? What are the "key important elements" of ATC that does not work in ProATC? I know one you might mention -- it does not talk to AI in the area. This can be fixed in part by using the default ATC to listen to other aircraft if that is the realism you desire. As with most commercial software, the code is constantly being updated and improved. It is an unfinished product the developers are actively engaged in making it one of the best ATC programs. VOXATC is a very good program too and has received several excellent reviews.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Guys, For what it is worth, I am sticking with it. Yes it is still not 100%, but as Jim (Firehawk44) says, the devs are releasing updates, I would say nearly on a weekly basis. I too was having more bad flights than good ones, now it is the other way around. For instance I did a flight today, LAX-SFO, I was parked at gate 68A at LAX, with the other United traffic, after getting my clearance etc, I was given my taxi instructions which was C7,B,B16,U for R/W 7-R. Now I have FSDT LAX airport so the taxiways and signs are really clear, and follwing these instructions they were bang on the money. When I got to the hold line at 7-R, I was told to hold and would be called back, that was because an ai plane was about to land on this R/W. I completed the rest of the FP with no problems. I see that another update will be released in a day or so, and I think you will be able to import FP's from other planners. So yes, I think it can only get better.

Cheers,

John.

Hey,

I bought this at the release time, was very frustrated at the beginning. Its running quite smoothly now. It has come a long way since its alpha release for 60 dollars... lol

its a must have if looking for total ATC immersion

Key important factors include the taxiways given for taxi instructions are totally wrong. I rarely ever got any approach instructions, and the way you can only fly the PROATCX flightplan in the PMDG NGX is weird and incredibly unrealistic to me. I like to actually enter in the waypoints and select the SID/STAR...with PROATCX you have to select a pre loaded Flight Plan in the FMC and fly it, you cannot enter waypoints into the FMC and fly them realistically.

And none of these things are mentioned on the website or the forums...I had to throw my money away to figure it out on my own. I brought all these things to the attention of the developer and he acknowledged the problems. This is why I am upset I was not issued a refund.
