June 22, 201213 yr dynamic weather is a must for Alaska, i sure hope that is included.. It seems unlikely that any additional program changes and additions will be done for Alaska other than the update we just got. Give Mixed Weather a try. It's a far cry from real world weather, but it does change a lot. It may have different parameters in Alaska than it does in Hawaii. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! June 22, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Its been said on the beta forums that Alaska will come with its own set of features separate from the core update we just got. Nothing specific, but weather is a HUGE part of Alaska. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
June 22, 201213 yr I missed that on the beta forum... unless there is more than one forum. But I'm not reading it that closely either. It seems unlikely that there would be any code changes, as mutiplayer still has to work for everyone and that's going to require the same code. Alaska will have different data parameters, and that will affect what weather we see. For example, with Isolated Thunderstorms, I've always seen it raining on Oahu and points west, while it's clear on Molokai and points east. The new Mixed weather theme seems to have a bunch of small cells with different weather in each. The data that drives these weather themes will be different for Alaska (obviously!) and may even be considerably more sophisticated without having to make any code changes. Imagine Mixed weather that's randomly generated for the entire map based on the date and time. For any given date/time the weather would be the same for everyone in the same weather cell, with each weather cell having different weather. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! June 22, 201213 yr Will the Carbon Cub SS have a cockpit? Didn't see one in the trailer :-( ... hoping, as it has a lot of paint schemes also.
June 22, 201213 yr The second image, some of the trees are darker, is it because terrain shadow cast on those trees? Yes! One of the great things of Flight: shadows everywhere. When you fly towards a low sun, the trees look almost black. When you look over your shoulder, you see bright green trees in the sunlight! The light system in Flight is awesome. When the sun is low behind a mountain and you fly a bit higher, you get that shimmering sunlight through the trees and you see scratches on the window. Great stuff. The shadows on the ground and trees make a WORLD of difference.
