Holger, thats clearly evident in the screen shot of this product that F1 put up. For this reason, Im probably not going to be an early adopter of this addon. Great, great idea. However until I see how it looks running in a major city like Atlanta or Chicago or NYC, and see how it integrates at night, Im going to keep my coins in my pocket.Admittedly, though out west and in country settings, this could be something very neat.Eric

Hi Steve,How bout some screen shots of this product integrated into a major city like Atlanta or Dallas or Chicago? I'd like to see how it integrates into city blocks etc. Also I would like to see it running at night and in evening time to see the lighting. ThanksEric

Assuming this product is as promised, I'm going to have to re-rank my Top 5 Payware addons:1) Ultimate Traffic (nothing like flying with real airlines and real schedules)2) US Roads (I'm a VFR scenery buff more than attempting to be a certified pilot)3) Cessna Citation X (For when I feel like being a certified pilot)4) Switzerland Pro (A true accomplishment in scenery design)5) Piper Archer (Fun, Fun, Fun)I'm pretty stingy when it comes to Payware, but this one seems like no-brainer, IMHO. Can't wait.p.s. There are a few more shots posted at:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...p?TID=7507&PN=1

Hi Will, going on about bridges again, eh? ;-)The strange thing about "autogen" bridges is that they are actually hard-coded and not produced "on-the-fly", as the label may suggest. I suppose the way they were placed originally was by some algorithm that tested whether the road or railroad was intersecting a body of water (LWM polygon). If so, the code would stop the road/railroad at each shoreline and write the coordinates of each end of a bridge into a separate file. These BR*.bgl files are stored, along with all other scenery files, in the subdirectories of FS9scenery.I suspect that Flight1 can do nothing about the existing autogen bridges other than remove them completely (if that). However, since the default lakes and rivers are often inaccurate (at least at the scale of a bridge), placing bridges in their real-world location would keep a lot of road in the water and a lot of bridges on dry land. Ergo, without a better layer of water bodies ther's not going to be much that can be done about bridges.Of course, this is all my speculation and it'll be interesting to see how Steve & Co address this topic. Personally, I'm more worried how a product like this is going impact all the existing local add-ons that include more or less accurate road systems - my own come to mind ;-)Cheers, Holger

With all the scenery stuff Microsoft has implemented, you essentially need to replace eveything. If you only install a new mesh, shorelines, roads and rivers, as well as many addon airports will look weird. Install new roads only and bridges etc. get messed up. The only thing that seems to work without problems are landclass sceneries but they don't fix all issues with the default scenery.I mean, it's good that they implement new features, but they should make it easier to produce addons that interact correctly with default scenery.

Somehow I don't worry too much about the bridges ..If you go by the "percentage" of the total road structure bridges are what - 1% or 0.01% or 0.001% .. insignificant value in the large scheme of things. And I am not going to dive and check bridges and their locations ;-)I was worrying however about the mesh sceneries but they told us they would test it and so far see no problem. As long as the roads 'hug' the terrian and not float in the air - I am a happy camper. But this is just my own take on this issue.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

Hi Jimmy,"I mean, it's good that they implement new features, but they should make it easier to produce addons that interact correctly with default scenery."I don't have much experience creating add-ons for other simulators and games but for FS9 I would state the exact opposite: it's amazing how easy it is to create add-ons that edit, replace, or interact with the default scenery! Thanks to the many dedicated programmers there's a great variety of utilities available for any kind of add-on imaginable and we have access to most of the code and parameters of the FS "engine". It's more difficult to find or acquire the data to enhance the default landscape scenery than it is to actually implement the changes. Also, it just happens to be a big planet so it will take a lot of effort and developers to cover each corner ;-)Cheers, Holger

Excellent product. Well worth 30 bucks. What's that, 2 cases of beer.JimCYWG

I've got my $30 ready.

Should be a good one.

>Why do people take critism so personally? I don't think>theres a person here who doesn't appreciate your hard work,>and the hard work of the rest of the flight sim community.>>We do not deny that it takes hours and hours to do something>like this, I am just looking at it in real world terms>(somebody like myself who has to pay the bills) and spending>30 dollars for an add-on that just adds roads doesn't seem to>be worth it. Don't get me wrong, it looks beautiful and I>wouldn't hesitate to pay 19.99 for it. It just seems like 30>is a lot since high quality airplanes with VCs go for that>price (PMDG, 727, etc)>>So again, I don't doubt that it takes a lot of work and talent>to do something like that. But my pocketbook can only spend so>much People take it personal only because you don't keep your opinion on a personal level but apply it thus "...doesn't seem to>be worth it." but you forgot to add "TO ME" to the end of your statement. See the issue? There is a BIG difference in saying that you do not feel like spending 30 bucks on roads when you can get a complete aircraft package than saying the product is not WORTH 30 bucks by it self.Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
