July 10, 201213 yr For those who still don't know (I know, I know, spoiling the surprise...). As the summer holiday season has started for good, I am sure many of you feel a need to fly to some great virtual holiday destinations. Just in time... The FSDG team are beta testing a new payware Sharm El Sheikh 2012 addon to be released for FS9 and FSX soon. Even if you don't have a special sentiment for this place like I do (spent there quite a lot of time), you will get a beautifully rendered holiday destination for FS9. More: http://forum.flights...38;p=1642#p1642 I personally can't wait! Same goes for the great Heraklion X scenery to be released under Aerosoft's wings very soon: More: http://forum.aerosof...240#entry386956 By the way the gentlemen working on HESH and LGIR are co-operating (including some more new and very talented names from the FS development world). I said it already but will say again: 2012 is a Simyear!
July 10, 201213 yr I think it's a great attitude especially of Aerosoft towards FS2004 users not to forget them. Indeed, these destinations aren't my preferred ones (I wait for a new version of Almaty, Dushanbe, Chorog (!), Batumi...), but 2012 was a good start for me with Vilnius X and Yekaterinburg X , both for FS2004, too; and I hope Aerosoft will continue to have something for all of us to offer. July 10, 201213 yr Author I hope Aerosoft will continue to have something for all of us to offer. That depends on the attitude of developers cooperating with Aerosoft. And there are more and more external projects sold by Aerosoft. Some scenery makers are FSX-only oriented (pity about the new EFHK to come) but others, good to us, are FS9 freaks themselves, so they develop for both platforms. PS I wouldn't mind a new quality UAAA myself!
July 10, 201213 yr I have never flown to Egypt in any sim I had, there was never any good scenery for Egypt. But that Sharm El Sheikh scenery looks beautiful! I will get it and start flying to Egypt.
July 10, 201213 yr Author I will get it and start flying to Egypt. Cairo Intl (HECA) has also always been a loser in the MFS series. Now it is being developed by Egiptian SDG (Sim Design Group). I must admit watching their previous projects (like HESH) available at SM, I wasn't particularly interested. But now they are working on a new version of HECA and it starts looking quite nice. I hope to see more previes, as the last ones come from May: http://www.simdesign...5&t=49&start=20
July 11, 201213 yr I will start flying to HECA for my FEDEX Virtual Airline Route right after the scenery is released. My MD11 is all fuelled up and ready 2 go

July 11, 201213 yr can't wait for LGIR!! I'm tired of my current 'low-on-FPS' FSX scenery for Heraklion.
July 11, 201213 yr can't wait for LGIR!! I'm tired of my current 'low-on-FPS' FSX scenery for Heraklion. fsx is so bad with addons, i don't understand how the ACES team got FS9 right and FSX wrong. Was the team under pressure to reach a deadline or what? Everytime i watch a youtube video regarding fsx(made by publishers or simmers)..........it's all stutters with fps under 20. FSX to run at full max settings with all sliders to the right and with all scenery/airport addons is impossible in 2012. Meanwhile, fs9 at max with all addons, mesh and 100% AI runs fast and stable. I always fly fs9 with Netflix and Explorer open at the same time and i have no crashes or slow fps in fs9 but in fsx i will get a ctd or other error in mid-flight
July 11, 201213 yr In all due fairness Mayia, FS9 was a DOG when released as well. For years there were no machines capable of running it with all the bells and whistles, we suffered from stutters, crashes, Out of memory errors no different than FSX... YEARS later the technology caught up. Now FSX comes along with massive texture files (ground, water, clouds, AI etc...) much more detailed resolution and of course it is going to run like a dog but there are more and more people capable of running FSX with all the eye candy and stellar results appearing daily... I think 3-4 years from now FSX will be what FS9 is today WITH all the benefits that come with it! It is not ACES got FS9 right and FSX wrong, it is years of technology catching up to FS9... July 11, 201213 yr When FS2004 came out...I had a very very good Fs2002 setup and was reluctant to change to FS2004 but I knew I had to and did pretty quickly. FS2004 is such a complete sim. When FSX came out I had a very very good FS2004 setup and knew I was not going to change to FSX because it is flawed/unfinished. I felt completely different about both sims when they were released...'tis only my humble opinion. My FS Videos

But now with the NGX, the upcoming PMDG 777, some of the exclusive FSX only scenery and HW catching up I can see myself with FSX in a few years where I am with FS9 now. I was just commenting that FS9 wasn't all roses for the first 5-6 years either, people forget how demanding FS9 was in the early years until HW caught up. FSX will be the same imho. July 11, 201213 yr Aerosoft has built up a nice collection of holiday airports. If I'm not mistaken, Aerosoft has marketed FSDG products in the past, so maybe these two packages will be sold on their site?
