July 13, 201213 yr The only airports I have right now down there currently is Fly Tampa St Martin, to start off I figure I'll get the Cloud9 Xclass Central and South America land class along with GEX Tropics but not sure what else I should be looking at. I know there is a ton of payware airports in the area but I'm not sure which to pickup or leave behind. For reference right now I'm flying around in the Flight1 Mustang so I'm not exactly looking for STOL airports. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PW Sceneries is currently on my shortlist for freeware though not sure how well that will work with GEX and Xclass.

July 13, 201213 yr Author Forgot about something that's even more important, charts. Tried googling around but can't seem to find anything solid. I can get some of the larger airports with Navigraph but not sure where to get the smaller stuff mainly the Grenadines airports.

In the AVSIM File Library: mhtg_v06.zip mpda_v1_rb.zip mpbo_rb_v1.zip The only issue you may have, is one of priority. I did landclass, roads, etc. for the Tegucigalpa area, for instance, and XClass may override it, depending on how it is set in your Scenery Library. That's all I can think of. Have fun. July 13, 201213 yr Not sure what sim you are using but authors like Bill Melichar and Delblond Christian have some awesome detailed s.cenery for many of the islands of the Caribbean. Do a search for their names in Extended search. One thing though, they for FS9. Not sure how many of them, if any, were converted to FSX.
July 13, 201213 yr I am a sucker for Caribbean and Mexican scenery. I like to fly to places I have been or want to go - on a vacation, not business. This is what I have: Payware Aviation Multimedia Studios - Cancun Latin VFR - Cozumel, Caracas, Trinidad, Tobago, Cayman Islands, Montego Bay, Santo Domingo Taxi2Gate - Isla Mujeres Tropicalsim - Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Providenciales, Punta Cana, St John's Antigua Imaginesim - Nassau, San Juan Fly Tampa - St Martin, Grenadines Freeware Everything from Striking Software - http://www.strikingsoftware.com/ Barbados from Max Kraus available at AVSIM Both freeware offerings are a must haves. For the payware, I recommend almost everything but I tend to buy everything I can find in the area. The older Tropicalsim and Imaginesim offerings are more basic. Latjin VFR's recent stuff is much better than their early stuff and their most recent releases are very good (Caracas, Cozumel). Of course, the Fly Tampa stuff is top notch. Bang for buck - I'd go for the FlyTampa stuff and the freeware I mentioned. BTW, Latin VFR is working on San Juan so I wouldn't buy the one from Imaginesim. I only have it because I had a valid license from FS9 and it is the only one that is currently available. July 13, 201213 yr Author Thanks Jeff, do you use any sort of land class or GEX tropics? I really want the Grenadines package but there are only 1 or 2 of the airports where I could actually fly into right now with the Mustang but I'm sure down the road when I get a King Air or something else I can always fly there. Right now I'm planning on getting quite a few of the Latin VFR stuff, most of the larger airports I can get charts for from navigraph but I'm having trouble finding ANY source online for Caribbean charts whatsoever. Does the FlyTampa package some with any sort of charts with the manual? I really hate flying into airports without at least a basic aerodrome info chart.

I only have it because I had a valid license from FS9 and it is the only one that is currently available. For sure? I checked their forum and didn't see anything on that. I remember Ricardo said last year that they were strongly considering it but didn't know they started making it yet. That's good news since the Imaginesim version is pretty bland as well as the surroundings (all the hotels on the north side of the airport and the trees that run along the side of runway 8). Yes, I also have GEX for Atlantic, Pacific Tropics. I don't use large scale mesh anymore. With all of the add ons I have, clashes always develop. Some mesh will produce airport plateaus and some mesh is corrected to not produce plateaus. Still, when it is corrected, the corrections are based on the default FSX scenery on not add ons - its just one of the trade offs you have to deal with. I'd rather have the airport scenery look like the developer intended it to look. July 13, 201213 yr You should get Tropical Sim - Cibao or LatinVFR - Santo Domingo. Both are in the Island of Dominican Republic and both are Awesome.
July 13, 201213 yr Hi! I'm aware this is a Fs10 thread but just thought I'd mention the old "Islands of the West Indies" package published by Flight1. Some people hate the ground textures but I used to have a part of it and found it very enjoyable with a lot of character. It covers a lot of islands but of course is for Fs2004. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=iwi2004 Apologies if you're looking only for Fs10. Many thanks, Pierre

I only have it because I had a valid license from FS9 and it is the only one that is currently available. I got the following scenery last night. My first impression and quick review. 1) Aviation Multimedia Studios - Cancun - It was ok.. nothing to crow about. It was good to be on the runway and see the thick foliage..but the whole scenery was too "neat" and sloppy at the same time. Does that make sense? The airport from far is too neat..but if you are closeby, its a tad shoddy in terms of how the textures are shabbily placed.. Take Orbx aiports..the airports by themsleves are old and shabby but the scenery meticulously recreates it. This is the opposite. Ofcourse my reference point is quality airport sceneryvendors like Fly Tampa and FSDT et al. 2) Latin VFR - Cozumel. Was better...but they could have done the whole Island...it wasn't that big an Island. 3) Taxi2Gate - Isla Mujeres. Very Very good. Loved the tincture color ground textures. Had fun trying to get the ATR to take off from this place. But it was so small a scenery. but its an Island so it was ok I guess. I also liked the custom textures for the houses like the typical houses in Mexico. 4) DRZEWIECKI DESIGN – MIAMI CITY 2012 X This is fantastic.. Loved the day time scenery. Night time, I can nit pick. But unlike Aerosoft's US Citities, atleast there is a night time city scenery. The beach sands are too darned bright at night. Some of the buildings are so well lit and many others are not lit at all.. Wish the LOD for the scenery objects were not too closeby. Meaning, many of the objects pop in and pop out. I understand their concern for performance. But eventually people are going to get faster systems. Thats my nit pick.. But I liked it very much. I only wished the KMIA had a custom runway textures. There is the FSDT's slightly dated Ft. Lauderdale closeby... too. I really wish Fly Tampa's Miami (KMIA) for this. now, that would compliment DD's Miami city. 5) Latin VFR's Miami airport- BAD. I took it off right away. This was a wash. Contrasting this with the DD's Miami city, it looked even worse. The neon green color of the textures looked really awful and the airport was not much better then the default. The airport from DD's KMIA was more than adequate. Like I said, if they had custom runway textures, their airport alone would have trumped Latin VFR's KMIA. 6) Fly Tampa's Tampa. Installed but did not visit the place.. I am not worried about this scenery. :) Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
