Yup, there are trade offs with a lot of the packages. Last week we were discussing the AMS Cancun - its good points and bad points. Still, it is the best Cancun out there and considering it is one of the 2 versions ever made for FS (Tsim the other), I doubt we will get another version. So, if you want to fly to Cancun with add on scenery, AMS is the version you need. For a lot of the Caribbean, the story is the same. Its not like we have 6 options for TNCC. If you want to do some regular flying in the area with add on scenery, you have to pick up a few airports that are not at the level of FSDT, FT or ORBX.

I agree Jeff. Your point is totally valid. IF you want to fly in these areas, those are the choices we get. I feel, In a kingdom of the blind a one eyed man is the king.

 

But I felt it was necessary to rate it based on what folks are generally familiar with as a reference point.

 

And I look at Latin VFR..and I see they know how to build sceneries..they have used custom runway textures...custom textures all over, they have some custom trees and other objects. they could easily build good quality scenery provided they spend some time on it. rather than build things quickly (that's what it looks like to me) and put it out there because others would just buy it at whatever price since they have no alternatives. We pay almost the same amount to get a scenery from Fly Tampa.

 

Let me give you an example.. The photo textures around the airports..they are very small. You can take it into Photoshop and color correct many of those files. That's just an example.

I agree, there are a lot of companies out there that cut corners and I would put AMS in that category. I really don't like the photoscenery they used and their ADE file was a joke. They made no effort to add in the approaches/navaids that were created when the airport added a second runway. Also, they said that Isla was included but it was basically a small terminal and a couple docks. I was expecting something more in line with Taxi2Gate's effort.

Taxi2gate has some nice sceneries for Cuba too, airports of Havana, Santiago De Cuba and two for some holiday islands, all of them in really good quality. Also Fsgenesis has released mesh for Cuba.
