FS Water Config-File Locations?

Recommended Posts

I see no change when using FS Water Config. I suspect that my setup file location may be wrong.

I have the main location of FSX set - that was obvious

For the shader forder I point to the Shader HSL folder in FXS root.

For fsx.cfg I point to appdata/roaming/microsoft/fsx

For shader cache I point to \AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders

I guessed at the shader stuff locations.

I do the resize of the window after making changes in FS Water Config but see no change in FSX??

Yes, I had some trouble getting any new configuration to show up in FSX, so I went back and read the instructions! Amazing how that works! The key is the Alt Tab action which I missed when reading the instructions for the first time.

Fire up FSX, select a scenery that shows water, minimize FSX, open up FSWC, select the configuration you want to use in FSX, click "Apply", expand back to FSX and hit Alt Tab on your key board. Minimize FSX again and you should see the change you selected. It takes a change in window size when in FSX to effectuate the FSWC change. This should enact the change for the config you selected.

My problem is dealing with the variables of;

Where are the specific shader files asked for by FS Water Config?

Do any of the water settings in FSX's slider effect the the use of FS Water Configurator.

Has using REX Essentials textures caused the FS Water Configuator to be unable to make intended changes?

Right now I see no changes in FSX when I use the offered water configs in the FS Water Config program. I resize the window and have also tried full screen and windowed mode (ALT-TAB). A long time ago I used the program successfully. However, my lo-end PC prevented me from taking advantage of improved water textures. Now that I can max out most sliders I turned to try the improvement of the appearance of water areas but simply cannot get change to occur.

Hey nudata, try the Orion preset, it looks pretty good stock and you can adjust it from those settings if you want.
