Help with resizing textures...

Recommended Posts

Apologies guys if this is the wrong forum, although it seems to be the best matched. I am new to manipulating textures and would be grateful for some help. I have been dogged recently with delayed texture loading of the NGX textures. I'm unsure why I have suddenly become aware of the issue. However, I decided to try and resize the HD textures from 4096 down to 1024. Effectively what I have done is open the files in DXTBmp and then exported them to Photoshop, resized all the DDS files down to 25% of the original file size ie. 4096 to 1024, 1024 down to 256 etc. It seems to have worked... to a point, but I have ended up with what is shown in the screenie... I have tried twice, but with the same outcome. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks fellas...

Hi Dimitri... hmm, as I said I'm new to this... so, erm, I guess not. The only files I have resized are the DDS files. What do I actually have to do to the Alpha channel?

Within dxtbmp there is an option to send the alpha to photoshop.

Resize it like you did with the normal texture.

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm a little lost. What am I doing wrong? I open each of the DDS files in DXTbmp and then send each one to Photoshop, resize and then reimport it back into DXTbmp and save it in it's original location. Where is the Alpha channel Dimitri?

The alpha channel is displayed in the little box in the upper right in DXTBmp. To access the alpha channel features (i.e. send it to the editor), use the Alpha menu.

Hope this helps,

Ah, I got it Tom, many thanks. Once I send the file to the editor, do I also click on the little icon which says, 'refresh after edit'?
