Cub Deluxe almost on sale.

Featured Replies

The real unit (and the one I programmed for FS9/FSX) has six buttons on the right-hand side, The middle button in the left column is the FUNC button, and allows one to scroll through the various pages. Among the pages are an Elapsed Flight Time display, a count up timer, and a count down timer that are separately controllable.

The SL30 displays *FLAGGED* whenever a VOR or ILS is tuned, but insufficent signal is present to drive the CDI accurately.

Well, I am sure the CDI will work in the Cub, but I am also pretty sure we can forget about the other pages of the GTX-330.

Here are some close ups of the SL-30...

...and the GTX-330, if anyone wants a closer look.

Thanks for identifying them!

Since I spent months and months scripting them for FS9 and FSX, they were very easy for me to identify... :p0307:

Has anyone noticed then when you fly a job, they are setting the transponder to different codes rather than 1200 ( VFR).?

I don't agree that the moving map in the Icon is useless, however, I would like to see the ability to increase/decrease the range added. As of now I haven't bought into GMap and using PlanG; I don't care for having another window added on top of my screen while flying, and the moving map does let you plot out valleys and see the terrain ahead. It just needs more range, IMO.

Nice redhead pic. But for those without personal experience, a word fo caution. It's a lot like a four hour flight in heavy turbulence without an autopilot. Every day. I'm not making this up. Google "redhead jokes" for more info.

As for avionics, a lot of us wouldn't mind spending 50 hours on a single instrument if Microsoft would just give us the necessary SDK, all for free, just to see it in the game. A complete GPS would take somewhat longer though.

A note: the top-down view provides a pretty good poor man's GPS.

That's fair, but I think you're missing out without GMap. You can pop it up for a few seconds at a time so it doesn't actually block the screen the whole time, just whenever you need to look at it. It would be great to have that kind of functionality built into the cockpit though!

Personally, I dont care how slow the cub is ...MS have given us a VC plane and the only way we can convince them that this is the way forward is to BUY IT... as all I've done is complain about the cockpitless rubbish they kept spewing out as DLC and harping on about giving us VC planes

..vote with your wallet... I for one will buy it,

Yep, I'm buying it for the same reason. We've been telling them for five months now to give us another plane with a cockpit rather than the crippled ones they've been dumping on the Marketplace. I haven't bought them, and I will buy this one, to make the point.

The problem with building it into the cockpit, is in order to see enough detail, you would really have to zoom into the screen on the cockpit GPS, which would probably then be the same size as the Gmap. I think the Gamp is handier, because I can turn it on and off easily with just a key press.

What I am waiting for is the ruckus that will undoubtedly develop when the price is announced :t0116:

Well, it's also a matter of taste or preference. I never liked and never used (if possible) popups in FSX and although GMap is GREAT I'd rather have a GPS in the VC, even if that meant I have to zoom into it (simply move forward with TrackIR  ). In FSX I didn't buy some planes because some functions would only work in 2D popup panels. In Flight I unfortunately have no choice. If I had a choice I would dump GMap today. However... when GMap for Android is released, that's another story! That would be like having your own little GPS-like device which you can carry with you and use in any plane you fly in! That would be even better and more real than having a GPS in the VC!

GMap for Android!? Well since I lost my phone last week (Windows Phone 7) I guess I know what OS I'll have on my new phone B)

Looks like she's in blue to me but I'm old and the vision is going.

Maybe we should start a pool to see who can pick out the date and time that it will finally go on sale.
