The development turnaround time at MS is proving to be horrendous...

Several months. How long did it take you to build the ones you have made?

Well.....I agree with the sentiment that they are sticking to a schedule.

But it only takes maybe a week or so for a single modeller to model, texture, and rig (needles have to move, etc) an interior. If it takes anybody longer than that, then they are a student or an intern. ;)

After that, I assume it's just a matter of coding the link between the game and the instruments.

They are sticking to a schedule, which is totally their prerogative.

That is unfair because considering the resources they have based off past releases, it should be a snap for them and in all practicallity they should have had DLC content ready way before Flight was released.

Dillion, I can appreciate your pasion since I see the potential also, but you have to realize this IS NOT FS next and there are a whole slew of supporters, some in this thread that are quite content without the extra detail and features that you and I feel need to be included in Flight.

Microsoft could have 20 planes all ready to be released right now, but are releasing them on a strict schedule. It doesn't matter how long it takes to make a plane. The only thing that matters here is that marketing is rationing the DLC at a specific pace, which has already been announced.

Mothers, please tell your kids "no" once in a while. Otherwise they could grow up to be flight simmers.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

Wow, didn't know this would turn into a slamming session.

Hello Dillon

Negativity towards Flight! is not allowed here, these guys love it just the way it is

I don't get it, the OP expressed his opinion about something HE think take to long for MS to do and he's labeled as a basher.

Good thing nobody can't see me every time I gave a dirty look to some of the post I've read  . (not only on Flight forum\) I can't imagine what I would be called....phew.

I don't bash, I just choose not to install it, never did, never will. :)

Wow, didn't know this would turn into a slamming session... I've been one of the biggest supporters of this sim since I had a chance to try it and saw the potential with it. If you guys are fine with the pace then so be it. I feel it took too long to release one package (Alaska which is based off FSX default scenery with a few exceptions unlike Hawaii), we were flooded with cockpitless aircraft since release, and now the Carbon Cub's VC (which should have been released with Alaska in the first place).

You guys can gloat and love everything Microsoft's does but outside of Flight itself, the initial deluxe aircraft, and Alaska's scenery pack nothing of relevance has been released for Flight that would explain the slowness it's taking to get quality DLC content out.

I guess this thread is headed down hill which was not my intention when I posted the initial thread...

The responses were not praise of MS and it's dismal pace of releasing worthwhile DLC. They were response to clearly unrealistic expectations in how much time and effort is required to produce worthwhile DLC on the part of many gamers. They simply cannot decide to make something and then publish it three weeks later.

Dillon, I suggest finding another flight simulator. MS Flight is never going to make you happy. No one should play a game which doesn't give them enjoyment.

I agree with you,

Announced by Microsoft on the 18th August 2010 at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany is the development of the next flight simulator in Microsoft series, now called "Microsoft Flight".

Can I give you one of those... lovepost_small.jpg :Applause:

Correct. But that is not what the OP was talking about. He is acting as if MS is building the Cub VC right now.

And this is you making an unfair characterization. Accepting it for what it is to help fund it's growth is the only way it will ever have that extra detail and features that we want, also.

You have a choice of either helping that, or getting out of the way. Endless complaints and rants about those who are using Flight will not accomplish much.

Explain that to the OP, since he seems to think MP just got started.

MS FLIGHT has limitations. Each one identifies those that heart her/him more. I myself have identified a few, and would rather prefer that they weren't there, but when I posted my thoughts some guys at the forum offered arguments that were accepted after me thinking a little bit more about it... After all I was having enough fun with it to overcome those limitations. That's how I feel right now, and believe me I sometimes start another sim just to get all of those fancy avionics working, proper RW Weather being parsed in an efficient way, etc...

For me additional DLCs aren't right away a real need, but that's me of course....

I respect your opinion Dillon and hope you can find good reasons to stay with MS FLIGHT, just as I did :-)

I was a little sarcastic here....sorry...my point was that after two years we only have Hawaii and Alaska + planes, some without cockpit....is the OP impatient?

I guess some of us aren't as "educated" as some others.... Oh well......

I take no issue with the totally valid position that there should be a lot more worthwhile DLC available for Flight right now.

Riiiight, you headlined the thread "it's proving to be horrendous!" and said the whole project "has failed!" becuae you wanted to have a calm, reasoned discussion, yeah?

And then you say nothing of relevance has been released?! You knew exactly where the thread would go, and you love it. Shame on us for helping you get there.
