Does Boeing still develop the 744?

Hello everyone,

I have been wondering about this question for a while now, does Boeing still develop the 747-400 if a company asked for one to be made?

I know that the airlines have stopped ordering them for many many years now but I don't know much about the cargo side, do cargo companies still order 74Fs? Or is it all 748s now?

 

I've just been curious about it, wondering if ever a rich aviation enthusiast said to Boeing, "I don't care about fuel costs, I just love the 747-400 and want a new one made for me", and if Boeing would do it.

When I was at the Boeing factory (Spring 2008) they were shaking down a 744ERF that had just been built for Air Bridge Cargo....the tour guide said that it was one of the last few being built (one or two others were still on the line at the time, so I would say no, they are no longer in the production line and would not be made).

As far as I know the last passenger -400 was delivered in 2005, and the last -F in 2009.

Production of the 747-400 (passenger) officially ceased in March 2007. The last 4 aircraft being developed at the time for Philippine Airlines were cancelled in lieu for the 777-300ER.

The 800 is the current production.
