Float Plane & Float Heli recommends?

Hi all.

 

As in the tittle, could anyone recommend some good Float Planes and Heli's with Floats. Either Freeware or Payware. The cheaper the better of course.

I was looking for something different in a float plane and just bought the the republic Seabee v2 that avsim featured on their front page. Wow, a fun little aircraft. Nice view, simple cockpit, and well done textures and weathering. They have a sale going on till the 30th so I decided to give it a try. I'm going to use it in the Pacific NW and Alaska first. I've always been in love with the Beavers and Otters on floats but this just rounds out the collection for me. Technically it's not a float plane but it does float. Oh yeah and the original it was built the same year I was born. Classic

Have you tried the (freeware) Beechcraft D18S by Milton Shupe? I've the FS9 version and it's beautifully modelled + textured, and a nice plane to fly. Cargo and passenger versions included. There appears to be an FSX version linked to (at Flightsim.com) at the following URL:

@ Malabar Glad you mentioned the Seabee as I downloaded a Republic RC-3 SeaBee for FS9 many moons ago. Just d/l the SuperBee from here http://www.premaircraft.com/seabee/index.html . Seems a nice fun little plane. If you go to the main site http://www.premaircraft.com/ there are a few more float planes in the download section.

Carenado 206 Stationair...been around for some time now but great fun and plenty of variations.

For a (cheap) payware float plane I would recommend the Carenado C185 Bush edition. Comes in Amphibian, Float, Ski and Tundra configurations. It's an excellent bush plane for all kinds of terrain. I enjoy it immensely at Tongass, PNW and Alaska environments.

 

For a float helicopter with extremely realistic flight modeling, on the top of the list is the Dodosim 206B (payware).

But you have many other excellent freeware options that are all available at Hovercontrol.com:

- Hovercontrol Bell 412 (comes with a float config)

- Piasecki H-21C Flying Banana (tandem rotor, comes with a float config)

- Bell 206B JetRanger III by Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations (comes with a float config)

- Enstrom 280FX (comes with a float config)

I still have the original downloads for the fs9 premaircraft and I just downloaded the SuperBee thanks for the heads up. They were a big part of my introduction to MSFS.

It isn't cheap but definitely it is worth of its price - 206 Dodosim - which is in many people opinion the best heli avaliable for FSX, has also version with floats in package.

The Lionheart Quest Kodiak is an outstanding model and comes with a floatplane configuration.

I have a freeware Bell 206B on floats from http://www.eagleroto...sx_bell206b.php, works perty good once you tweak the contact points to actually sit on the water, not under it. 8^) Instructions are here: http://www.eaglerotorcraftsimulations.com/forums/forum-4.html

 

There is also a free C208 amphibian out there, just search for it. It flies quite nicely, even tho it's from FS9.
