2 Saitek Throttle Quads + Real World config = too many levers!

(I posted this here since it's not really a hardware thread.....more of a personal preference and realism setup thread. Mods move if you need to)

 

I have six axis levers. But most aircraft only use five "lever" type controls.

 

(from left to right in the cockpit)

parking brake

speed brake

throttle

flaps

gear handle

 

I have been struggling for months now what to set my 6th lever to and I just can't figure out what to use it for.

I've tried the tiller axis (for ground steering) but you can't really feel the center position so the planes always ends up in the grass. I've done prop pitch but it's only useful if I'm flying a prop aircraft and I want to assign it to something any plane can use.

 

I know people will say "use 2 levers for separate throttles" but I have tried this and all I get are issues. (sync problems, even when using FSUIPC sync control.....A/T kicking off or TOGA not working with separate throttle controls).

 

Any suggestions for the 6th lever? It's so lonely.....no one ever moves it half the time. It needs a job.

Simple: buy some A2A accusim aircraft and you can use this lever and others (gear) for turbo lever, carb heat lever etc :P

 

 

 

Edit: and I see not prop RPM control at your setup...seems you'll flying just modern airliners?

I always program one lever for all engines.

In that way it always works fine.

 

Never ever I felt the need of using more/less power per engine.

No I fly the PMDG JS41 too, but I have FS2Crew and my FO handles the RPM lever.

 

You can always remove it and get some free space between those you use.

 

Removing the entire handle is more trouble then I want to go through. I'd have to take apart the entire quadrant and detach the stick from the potentiometer.

It's just weird that you bought the dual throttle kit when there's a single throttle kit available too from that website you linked.

I will do that the moment real multi-engine aircraft are being delivered with one engine lever too.....
