About to settle and buy, but need an FSX expert

Here is my rig. Everything is from NEWegg. Maybe someone can lead me to cheaper options. ALL in all this costs about $900

I would love to save money on anything possible. Please let me know if there is a better option!

There is a few things i would look into changing. If for a dedicated fsx rig i would go with a nvidea gpu. Upgrade to better memory. And i dont believe your mb choice will allow u to get the most out of that 2500k. Also why not look into an Ivy Bridge setup? Oh and your power supply. I would go with at least a 650 watt.

I think i'll stick with an i5 2500K. And isn't 8GB of RAm plenty for FSX?

8gb is plenty just need faster. Like 1600mhz and cl7 latency. The gpu looks better but the 660ti is coming out very soon and looks to be a great bargain. And u will want a p67 mobo not the h61. I use the asrock p67 extreme 4 with my 2500k rig. U might want to look into the compatibility of the 2500k with some of the newer mobos. Cant remember the letter number designation off hand. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

You can run these at 1600 with tight timings such as 7-7-7-16 1T @ 1.5v and they will run like a charm.

Z77, I use ASRock as well, Id defeinitley get an nVidia GPU, as said above the 660ti is due out later this month and will be quite the card. Id also recommend the Cooler Master 212 EVO over the plus due to the redesign of the bottom if youre going the air route.

You could save money going for an older GPU like a GTX470 or GTX480.

Memory makes less impact, you want the best core speed asus mobo and ivybridge.

The 470 are like $300!!!!!!!!

 

And the Ivy bridges are like $280, while sandy bridge is $219
