Chicago Airspace Question?

Since the vandalism of Meigs Field, take a look at the Chicago Sectional.I have left a pic here for you here:http:// boycottchicago.home.attbi.com/sect.jpg(Copy link and eliminate space between the / and b )So, how do you think the FAA will redesignate the Airspace.Will the shoreline still be open and lower since Meigs will be gone?So what will the FAA do? I say they will most likely extend Midways towards the shore, but wouldn't it be great if they just left it alone. :-)What do you think? Hi Joe,a possible argument could be along these lines:1. The closure of Meigs was not brought about by an event that could be classified as force majeure or actus deus.2. The City of Chicago failed to give required advance notice of an intended closure of a public airport for a period exceeding 12 months.Therefore, the status of Meigs has not changed as far as the FAA is concerned, until an advance notice of the intended closure is filed. They probably will extend the C airspace. It really would be great if they left it alone, but Daley would probably have a fit. They could also do what has been done with New York, where you have an area within 30 NM of LaGuardia, Newark and Kennedy where all planes must have an IFR clearance and be under ATC direction. It's a pain to have to deal with, since I have to go farther out to do airwork (I'm training for a PPL), and it wouldn't be too good for sightseeing if you wanted to do some, but other than that, it's not too restrictive. I doubt it would be a permanent thing, though. xiphanopoulous
