American Airlines, I just don't get it?

Featured Replies

Y'all right about that. Don't remember seeing too many AA repaints with OOC, OC, NC, NNC in their description.;)-------------------Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

LOL! I wouldnt call Britney Spears a musician...have you ever seen her play an instrument? Her singing talent is dubious and frankly, unless she's coming out of a birthday cake, Im not interested in her.Eric

Watch it, Ted! I may be the only one, but I think the Song livery is quite attractive, and a darned nice design. The one that drives me around the bend (in the wrong direction) is the new Northwest Airlines logo. Helloooo? Anyone home over there at NWA? The logo looks fine if you view it from the left side of the plane, but from the right the triangular "tick" mark points northeast! What a buncha nimrods. At least the old logo was both clever and made sense from either side. Sorry, had to interject ;-).

It's amazing how you can say basically the same thing in 6 words or less... :-roll

??? Okay. I actually find the AAL livery not to be... interesting. Its not really a livery. And just because an airline gets a new look, doesn't take away from its quality. Look at TWA: in 1999 when I flew to Hawaii and I had ONE stop; if I had flown it in 1985, I would still have one stop. I'm puzzled too. I think the first comment was right: shiny objects.:-jumpy---------------------Kenneth Weik [link:maam.org|MAAM-SIM][email protected][link:library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=kenneth+weik&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My AFCADs

hiI personally like the AA current scheme. Also the retrojet colours on the 757 and 738 are awesome. Still wondering why AA hasnt updated their colour scheme for years as other airlines have. many airlines have cahnged their colour scheme to a more modern looks without the cheat lines but not AA. Maybe they are up to something in the future ?Jani

My answer is the simplest, I am affiliated to AAvirtual, therefore I need every AC in AA livery. Now if your question is why I am affiliated to AAV, then my answer is simple too; since I moved to San Juan PR, 85% of the jetliners I have taken were and still are AA, plus the fact that I live at a quarter mile from TJSJ rwy 8, and see AA ACs through my window every 10 minutes.Leo

Personally, my favorite was the 70's era Eastern Airlines look, before they went chrome.I loved the simple blue on blue stripe with WhisperLiner (or Whisperjet, depending on the size of the aircraft).I really did not like it when they went to "chrome" but accepted it as a cost cutting measure.(If Eastern had really wanted to save in costs, they would have pushed both Frank Boorman and Frank Lorenzo in front of a moving bus. Frank Boorman may have made a fine astronaut, but the way he and Mr. Lorenzo robbed the company extinguished any stars I may have had out of my eyes....but I digress.)The other Liveries I liked was Branff International. You could spot a BI plane from miles around because each one is unique.Of the "current" liveries, I like Frontier the best. The animal scenes on the tail are great.

The original question Kenneth wasn't how good the airline itself is, it was totally concerning the livery. That's what we all are supposed to be addressing...

Pilots of the Caribbean just love the Jamaica livery. Flying in the islands, with lots of local AI, is like a spring dance at a Southern girls' school, while plane-spotting in the continental (no pun intended) US is more like an accountants' convention. That said, I like the shiny American planes. Hawaiian also had a bare metal scheme for a while. Going back in time, there were many bare metal schemes in the 1950's and 60's. Of course, virtually all schemes were bare metal in the 30's and 40's. :)Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
