07AUG12: PMDG 777 Manuals Available! (Start studying!)

Featured Replies

Guys-there is no need to rant.

There will be Manuals( FCOM, QRH, and a tutorial) in pdf format, that come with the product. ... its simply something that PMDG offers its customers. take it or leave it.

The cost for purchasing the maunals is justifed. PMDG has to buy a license to print them since they are copyrighted and owned by Boeing. Second, they have to pay a publisher to print and bind. Third, Pmdg has every right to make a profit from them.

And they are pretty much the same thing pilots get minus the airline specific information and logos.

PMDG of course has the right to sell them at a price point they see fit, but I have a right not to buy them if they're too expensive. Not slamming PMDG at all, but I find that they're out of my price range too... If I was rolling in money I'd buy them without a second thought, but I don't have €250 to spare for a set of manuals. Now, if somebody wants to buy them for me, I'm all ears

Since they are airline quality I can see why they are expensive, it probably costs a good penny to produce them and of course PMDG has to up the price to pull a profit or there would be no point.

I don't even think pmdg really makes a profit on the books as I recall from the ngx release. But I plan on getting the QRH for the T7 aswell as the NG in the the very near future.

Sorry to say this, but unless the manuals come free (in pdf format) with the aircraft, I won't be purchasing the manuals and will fly without them. Personally, I find spending more than $300 on manuals for a flight simulator addon product to be beyond ridiculous, no matter how well simulated the systems might be. If others are prepared to part with so much money, good for them. But for me, I won't even consider it.

Chillax bro. The manuals will come with the plane in pdf format as they always have.

I agree they are expensive, but there was a price comparison that someone did when the NGX manuals came out. They compared printing and binding the pdf's on your own, with the cost of ink, paper, binders and such for all of the 4-5000 pages, and it could end up being more than what pmdg charges.

I more than likely will not be buying them either, but don't become so angry and come to conclusions before you know everything.

Have a good day

Obvioulsy you havn't bought any of the pmdg aircraft than, if you have, than you would have noticed that they come with free manuals as well in pdf format. So why would the t7 be any different i think not

Actually, I own everything except the 747-8i but didn't think that such extensive manuals would be available for download due to copyright reasons and such.

They wont be available for download outside of the product, we will get them in PDF form when we install the 777X.

Too expensive for me. But thanks for the offer.

The manual is like buying the Collector edition of some other game. The contents of the game itself doesn't change, but you have a nice box a printed manual a some other stuff, and some times are priced twice as much.

I don't think they are expensive. It's a plus that worth the money.

Im sorry to say that I can neither afford to build a new PC to run FSX smoothly so I can run the PMDG 777-200-300 nor can I afford likely $100 price point for the sim as well as the $100+ for manuals.

Is this the new norm for simming to charge for the manuals?

Flightsimming is going the way of GA, getting to expensive to do. I guess I will fly my old birds until then.

What is next??????.... charging for patches or monthly dues for FMC data or else the sim dont run? or Pay Per Use.

You get a set of the manuals on PDF with the product, PMDG are only charging if you want them printed and bound, so don;t panic! (whoops didnt see the other reply to this! )
