New computer time!

Hi all,

 

Looking to my fellow pilots for abit of advice on my next computer! I have seen two computers which i believe will be good for flight simulator, on high settings! Looking for high performance after the mistake i made 3 years ago on the rubbish i got from pc world!!!

 

The first one:-

Intel i7 ivybridge quad core 3.4 Ghz CPU

Superior ATX Motherboard

12GB DDR3 1600 RAM

1GB GeForce GTX550 Ti Graphics card

1TB SATA Hard Drive

550w 80plus rated PSU

Windows 7

 

The second one:-

Intel® Core™i5-3570

ASUS® P8Z77-V LX

8GB SAMSUNG 1333MHz

2GB AMD RADEON™ HD7850

1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s

650w PSU

Windows 7

 

I think the first one sounds the better spec, what do you guys think?

 

The first one is £800 and the second one is £850.

 

Has anyone got any advice for me? I am not very knowledge about computers!!

I'll take the second one only after you swap videocards with the first one. The GTX550 is the better card for FSX between those two, but most definitely, I would go with the second one. Is this going to be a general purpose PC or is it going to be used exclusively for FSX?

Its going to be just for fs 2004 (or maybe upgrade to fsx in a few months), could you please tell me what is better about the 2nd than the 1st? I havent got the best knowledge for computers!!

For starters, the ambiguity of it. Things such as "Intel i7 ivybridge quad core 3.4 Ghz CPU", "Superior ATX Motherboard", "12GB DDR3 1600 RAM". Usually, when ads are like this without putting details such as the brand or model, it sounds like generic stuff. And second, it is well known that nVidia cards are the best for FSX/FS9, where even the drivers have support for it. ATI cards while being good cards, don't perform well with FSX/FS9, especially with clouds.

-graphics card - GTX 670 2GB

-RAM - 8GB Kingston hyperx 1866mhz

 

What do you guys think?
