AVSIM Opens New Stats Function

Recommended Posts

For those of you who like to argue about whose is bigger (forums, categories, etc. that is), we have introduced a new statistics system that is sure to put all the arguments to bed (so to speak). Now, when someone wants to argue about the number of posts made, the number registrations, total membership, etc etc, they can factually discuss those without embarrassing themselves. AVSIM is pleased to bring on our new statistics system and hope you enjoy it too. You can access it by clicking on the FORUM Tab above and then on STATISTICS.

Forgot to add... Disregard the file library download stats. Those are taken from the library that did not get implemented. The stats are meaningless today.

I think I win for the most unintelligible posts due to my lack of proof reading!

66 new users per day? Wow. I will set up 'welcome to Avsim' as a template now. ^_^

Has this new stat's system removed the ability to give a post a +1 with the little green up arrow thing, or have I just been giving too many up arrows and banned from +1'ing...

Yes I was going to ask. It seems community stats has disappeared.

That is the Reputation System that is a core function of the forums. I have disabled it as there were anomolies that were showing up which could only lead to more contention and friction. It's better gone. It was shut off today.

I'm a bit confused here, you say it's a core function of the forum, all well and good, but the way you phrased "It's better gone. It was shut off today" - Seems rather permanent, will it be showing it's head again, or was it causing too many ructions and friction as you say?

I am confused as well.........

Contention and friction? I remember when it was decided to remove the minus ability, and that seemed to end the discussion.

Oh, well. Kinda bummed. I used it as a sort of gauge to see if topics I created were resonating with people, and for feedback on whether I was communicating effectively.

The problem was that the negative function didn't entirely disappear as it was assumed it would. That is where the issue arose and why I shut it down. The "core" statement means that it is a module built into the fundamental forum design as opposed to being an add on from a third party or as an after thought from the IPB team.

And I am probably part of the problem. Whenever I found an old "red" vote, I would negate it as much as I could with a counter-vote. I just did not want to see any old red votes! Wouldn't be surprised if that screwed something up, too!

Nice attitude, Devon! I would thump that one up, if I could.
