Miami City 2012 by Drzewiecki Design for FSX - recommended

I have the DD Miami city and I am happy I bought it. unlike the no so good Latin VFRs Miami

 

But I still have two issues with the DD Miami

 

The big one is the LOD issues with its objects...they keep popping in and out,...this may be ok for old PCs but not good for a good performing new PCs. Orbx is amazing since you do not have have these LOD issues.. all buildings and trees at distant is sharp.

 

2nd is, the night is a tad too inconsistent across the board. .but its not such a big issue for the fact, that they actually have a night city unlike many of the Aerosofts cities.

I did have an issue with fairly large areas blacking out and coming back. I assumed it was something to do with my settings. You're right, though. Orbx doesn't have that issue.

Instead of messing with these LODs they ought to have associated scenery objects with Level of detail sliders. I remember when you create and place objects in sceneries you can associate it with those scenery detail sliders in FSX. This way, for folks with the not the fastest PC can move the slider to the left so these objects don't appear on the scenery and for folks with faster PCs can move the sliders to the right.

 

But making objects dissappear at 100 or 200 yards from you for everyone is extremely distracting and makes a good scenery not so good.

 

Or have some sort of Installation settings to make it complex or simple or inbetween

 

The scenery is good ...and its a popular location, so hopefully they would do an update for it. In the meanwhile hopefully Fly tampa would do the Miami airport.

Good points regarding the objects popping in and out. It does get a little distracting and annoying when changing views or looking away and then back. It's like a domino effect in reverse... Excellent idea regarding LOD settings as well.

 

As for the LatinVFR KMIA airport, where are you guys seeing that it's being updated for better framerate? Last night I went to their website (Cayman) and couldn't find a thread or post regarding that.

Did the palm trees ever get addressed in a patch or anything? Think of picking this up on the current sale for $12.
