Ok. Somewhere between the new MCE version and the new FSUIPC (which is required for the new Active Sky Next) there is now an issue with MCE and Radar Contact. Until I installed the latest versions I've never, and I mean ever, had a delay issue with RCv4. Now, its become so bad that RCv4 is unusable. I would really appreciate it if someone could look into this for me. I really want to use all the features of RCv4 and MCE along with FSX but at this point that's just not possible. One thing to note: I reinstalled an older version of FSUIPC and the voice recognition between MCE and RCv4 became much better but the delay was still extreme. I have tried complete uninstalls of both products (including fs.insider.dll, mce.ini file, etc.) and a brand new reinstall with NO success. Massive delay time. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • There you go. Download this patch Manually replace 3 files in \Multi Crew X-Plane\ installation folder. From now on, once you mute all MCE reco with ScrollLock (or optionally with Numlo

  • For PMDG 737 MSFS integration, it is currently in Beta. Should have received invitation to download the Beta. Assuming you've done that, download this patch http://www.multicrewxp.com/B

  • Try using the word "all".   Two relevant examples that work for me (1st for the NGX, 2nd for the simcheck A300):   "All fuel pumps on."   "Deactivate all packs."

I assume you read this

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/429606-asn-and-computer-freezes/?hl=+asn

And this

http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?2130-ASN-for-FSX-Hotfix-121713-released

As you can see, your issue surfaced after ASN was added to the mix. The solution isn't in our hands. If it was, we would deal with it for sure.

MCE itself doesn't use FSUIPC.

Thank you for the reply Gerald. I kind of suspected the culprit was ASN and I did see those posts. I did an extensive search prior to posting. I have listed this issue with Pete Dowson, ASN/HIFI and Radar Contact. I'm hoping that somewhere between the three a resolution can be found. Thanks again and Happy New Year.

  • 1 month later...

I have been using the default 738 for most of my flights while I test the program out.

I would call out set speed 270 and it was registering me correctly in the top left of the screen but the first officer would respond as if he didn't know what speed I was calling out. He would respond correctly to 250 and 249 but not 251+. This was over Europe so I am not sure if this makes a difference. I think that once we got above FL180 he would set the speed to 251+ but I can't be 100% sure as I had just set the speed myself when he wasn't doing what I told him, I am not sure if this is a bug or I am missing something here.

Also that for some reason I say "set altitude one two thousand" and in the top left it says "set altitude 1 2 000" yet he sets altitude to 1200. But if I say "set altitude one three thousand" he sets it 13000. This has happened to me before with other altitudes.

It can happen occasionally.

Sometimes FO just wants confirmation before setting a particular speed. In which case just reply "yes please" "affirmative". Alternatively give him the correct speed.

Other times, for some reason, maybe 1 time out of ten, the FO gets the wrong altitude. Even when that happens, there is no need to wait until he finishes dialling the wrong one.

Just take it as a real world mistake, and while he's dialling the "1200" altitude, say "correction twelve thousand" and FO will dial the correct altitude. The same with speed and heading, he can correct on the fly. And he would know whether you are referring to altitude, speed or heading. No other voice control product can do that. :P

Once he is done with dialling, correction is no longer possible, and you need a new voice command.

Hope this helps

Thank you, I will try that.

In preparation for downloading and running the demo, I had downloaded some of the additional FO voices from your website.  However when running the "InstallVoice.exe" I get the following Windows 7 error message: "This program might not have installed correctly".  Although sometimes this does not always mean that the program has not installed, when I look in the Speech Recognition/Text-to-speech tab, I still only see Anna.  Is there any way to install these add-on voices manually and not use the installer?

Hi Stuart

The exra high quality voice packs aren’t TTS voices like Microsoft Anna.

They are human recorded voices that will only work with MCE. They are expected to be installed to \Multi Crew Experience\Voices\Recorded\ folder. Therefore, make sure the main program MCE is installed first.

All “InstallVoice” does is copy a couple of files to the relevant folder. It’s not a program that you’d find in installed programs list.

You could eventually do that manually.

Say you want to install FO voice pack “Clive” (English UK)

You create a folder called “Clive” in \Multi Crew Experience\Voices\Recorded\Copilot\ folder.

Then copy the following files from unzipped downloaded voice pack to the newly created “Clive” folder.

foClive.dll

Word.map

Mechanics voice packs should go into

\Multi Crew Experience\Voices\Recorded\Mechanic\

Thanks Gerald for the prompt reply. I did actually wonder if that was the case, but I had already posted the question. I'm waiting on delivery of a new sound card before trying the demo, as my headphones/mic are not currently working with the onboard sound.

Not sure if it's too late...

You'd probably be better off getting a USB wired headset instead, as they come with their own built-in sound device.

Should the built-in sound card fail, you will have that as a fallback device. And there is no need to open the PC case either.

Thanks for the advice, that's a good idea. Fortunately my sound card had not been dispatched so I was able to cancel it. I have now ordered a Sades SA-902 7.1 Surround Sound Cobra Gaming Heaset Headphones with Mic and Remote for PC Laptop (Black & Red).

Just noticed that on Majestic Dash 8, MCE does not read the V-speeds from the Bugs V1, Vr, and V2, like on most planes.  Copilot will accept them manually, but it would be nice to get him to read the speeds from the bugs too.

It does actually, albeit by looking into specific offsets, since there is no SDK.

Unfortunately, every time they release a new update, we have to re-adjust those.

Which Dash 8 version are you using? 1008 or earlier? And did you apply the patch after 1008?

It's 1.00801 for the Majestic (hotfix applied), and whatever the latest version of MCE is as of last week.

I guess I'll just report things as I run into them in this thread, but I also found that I couldn't get him to push the NAV button.  I tried "LNAV" and "Nav Mode" and he acknowledges the command, but doesn't set it, even though it is eligible to be set, and can be set by me.  Not sure about Vnav yet.
